Performance of OpenFlash Header & Tune

I'm weighing my options on whether not to put the OpenFlash Header and Tune on my car. Have been contemplating for over a year and finally have the money. This would be my last major grade to the car and wonder if it is worth it. All in all it would cost around $1500

Can someone please give me some details on the performance enhancements it would give my car in terms of HP, torque, response time etc. Anything you have would be great. I have looked at countless dynos but not being super knowledgeable about his stuff it all just starts to blend together.

My car is a 2013 Scion FR-S with the following aftermarket parts:

Lights: Winjet Black, HID Kit 310+78=388
K&N Air Filter - 45
Perrin Inlet tube - 100
Enkei 18' rims - 1000
Michelin Sport AS3 Tires - 850
Eiback Lowering SPring kit - 500
Rear control arms - 100
Magnaflow Catbak Exhaust - 1400
Tint - 175
Tri Bar tail lights (shaded black) - 300
HID kit for stock headlights - 150
New side markers (black shaded)with white LED installed in them – 70
Took off air flow box that sits on first of bumper connecting to air box - 0
Rear spoiler black - 200
Shark fin antenna - 40
Painted breaks inside rims red - 0
Yellow license platers with Solid Black outline – 10
Tail light clicker preventer - 20

I'd try to spend less than your $1500 you have saved up, like half that in fact.
Gruppe-s header $475 and OFT from classifieds $3-400

Well, on the straights, you will be able to beat a stock 2013 FR-S ....... but, you still won't be able to beat a Mustang .......

OFT is definitely worth the price (buy used), but as Impureclient said, go with a cheaper header. $500 extra won't get you double the performance.

The $1500 is including the OFT and OFH. They ahve them on their site combined for like 1200, I was adding in another 300 or so for installments.

Could you point me to the "classifieds" please, are you referring to craiglist?

Member Classifieds on this site for used OFT: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=66
No need to buy new. A used unmarried one will be just as good as a new one.

Vendor Classified on this site for Gruppe-s: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=81839

A header is like 30 minutes to install with hand tools if you're ready with all tools and ramp/jack and maybe 60 minutes if you go slow. OFT is a few minutes install for free.

or you can save up till 4000 and go FI.

To be honest for NA i like stock tune better then tuned..... i feel like all they did was engage the valve more early...so you have less dip. Lots ppl talk about torque dip but they are just ***** who don't drive the car about 5k all the time

That's quite a long list of stuff that did absolutely nothing for the performance of your car.

I beat mustangs all the time. They are usually young punks that don't know how to drive.

I thought the OP was talking about just a header and a tune.

Isn't your car FI ..... ??

BTW, has your heat wave broke yet ..... ?? If not, maybe you will have to FI your swamp cooler ......

My post has a rough estimate/break down for you.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...6&postcount=84

You can search around the entire thread for how others did and what mods. My brother (sillierabbit) had OFT and catback without UEL seen here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...6&postcount=77

Difference between our cars: his is auto, no header, and no inlet tube.
Difference between our results: He had major torque dip.

I was just kidding. I don't street race, especially a mustang. I would be afraid they would spin out and take me with them!

Yes I am FI.

Another yes, cooler finally. I wish I had a cooler of any sort in my POS 1959 house (they tell me it's worth 1.2 mil). They want the price of a nice used Cayman to duct and central heat/AC the place. F that.

Back on topic, I have no experience with OF exhaust hardware, but I do have an OFT somewhere around here. When I was NA I ran a custom tune by Shiv. It was a very good tune, car ran really smooth. Shiv was nice to work with.

Yep, like I stay away from these ricer kids with their cars wheels all splayed out ....I'm afraid a part is going to fall off them and I'll run over it ....!!

DANG! If I lived in San Jose and my house was worth 1.2 mil ...... I'd be taking out a home equity loan and have central air installed......

That would increase the value of the property waaay more than the loan amount and THEN, since you made such a wise investment ...... you should take part of the home equity loan and buy that Cayman .......
