Don't know if you are trollin',or what, but maybe you need to watch this video, and this guy's channel.

You could argue the merits of Honda and Toyota over Subaru, but if you're telling me you'd buy a new model Nissan or Mitsubishi over a new model Subaru, then I have some beachfront property to sell you in Nebraska.

Nissan's VQ, RB and SR motors are very reliable. Not sure abt the other motors, but the VQ is used across most of their models and I haven't heard anything bad abt it.

Mitsubishi had the crankwalk issues on the 4g63 motors, but haven't heard of anything bad otherwise. The Evo motors are solid, and I grew up with various Pajeros (both diesel and turbo diesel) that was solid for 20 years

What about their automatic transmissions though?

VQ37 had issues from 2008 to 2011. Not sure about previous engines.

It burnt a little bit if oil. And a few ppl had headgasket issues, but it wasn't major. My friends have the g35 and g37 and they never had any issues

Check the G37 forum, it is a hit or miss. I would say an issue like this is major if the failure rate is high enough for that to be a concern amongst the ones that have the car.

Good side of the issues on older G37 is that you can get ones for cheap for modifying.

I thought we were talking about the overall reliability. The transmission is just as important as the motor, and Nissan makes some of the shittiest auto transmissions out there. I don't really hear anything bad about the reliability of Subaru's CVT's.

I haven't heard or read any glowing reviews about Mitsubishi lately either,so there are two Japanese manufacturers right that I wouldn't even consider purchasing over anything that Subaru has to offer, but each their own I guess.

And that's why they're in an alliance...twice the crap!

Maybe they thought two negatives equals a positive lol

True that Nissan makes awesome tranny. Not denying it. Mitsubishi has been under the radar lately, but i never heard of anything bad. As for Subaru, the EJ motors were so terrible they have their own knock knock jokes

yeah, it's a miss for my friends at least... but at least it's just the headgaskets... not to major... Subaru motors tend to knock, and that is a much more expensive fix imho

Unfortunately, there's no perfect car out there. Lexus is top of the line in reliability but they no longer offer a manual transmission in any of their current offerings, so that rules them out for me in the basic requirements of a sports (or sporty) two-door, rear-wheel drive car.

When I was shopping for a new ride, my desired requirements were:

Japanese-branded.
Built in Japan.
Not Mitsubishi.
Not Nissan.
Not Isuzu.
No hatchbacks.
Two-door.
Rear-wheel drive.
Manual transmission.
6-cylinders or more.
Very little "bells and whistles".
Reliability from fair to excellent.

The twins tick most of those boxes for me and actually more boxes than any other car out there that I would consider right now.
