Btw that was just in jest. Really couldn't care less what tires are on it from the factory. Seriously. Probably gonna change em either way. No matter what, you eventually have to change em anyway lol. The prius tire thing does not matter to me at all. I get why they went with that tire: economy and easy to slide around, and not to mention the size of tire isn't very expensive (relatively), which helps lower the cost of consumables, helpful for those looking to just get out on track. Only thing I care about is if there's reasonable clearance from factory to run wider rubber, which I'd say we got.

Maybe for places like Japan?

For the rest of the world, summer would probably be the earliest.

My 86 was the GT model here in Oz, the base with those 16” Enkeis, and I actually liked the simple style of them. I just wish they were larger and wider. I never cared for the 17” or 18” GTS rims except for the ones that came with the PP. The stock 17s though, both pre and post facelift were always ugly to my eye.

At least these new ones look OK. I’m a sucker for a classic JDM TE37 style rim with 5 or 6 spokes and a bit of lip, which never goes out of style. I don’t know why automakers don’t stick with timeless designs, but insist on short term trends which date the rims and the car horribly within a few years.

The Primacy's were a fine street tire, and were good for learning RWD handling characterstics. They did match the character of the car, and I thought the steering feel and overall response was pretty good. The problems I had with them are:
- The Pilot Super Sport (and now Pilot Sport 4S) is better in most (if not all) objective metrics, such as outright grip, road noise and comfort, and wet traction.

- The Primacy's handicapped the BRZ/FRS in the magazine performance metrics. Moving to a PSS/PS4S significantly improves these measurements, such as lap times, skidpad numbers, and braking distance. There are lots of people that only look at these objective measurements, and I think the Primacy's hurt the reputation of the car, and thus sales.

- I'm another buyer that is going to change wheels/tires shortly after buying the car. The Primacy's aren't good as a 2nd set of tires; they aren't good for track/autox (even as a wet tire), they aren't going to work in the winter, they weren't particularly comfortable or quiet for street/road trips. I would prefer a top-notch summer tire like the PS4S/ECS or a decent performance all-season, which I could at least keep on they car as it sits in my garage over the winter.

I hope that Subaru has equipped a Pilot Sport 4S or similar as the OEM tire. Based on the teaser image, it appears they have.

I’m so sorry that people have to garage their cars or change wheels per season.

There were similar questions when Alpine said the A110 will get the PS4 tire and not the PS4S tire that gives better lap times. When they were questioned about the decision, they said that the intention was to provide a more streetable tire and not a track-focused tire. So, yes a particular tire might hurt specific measurements and lap times, but such numbers don't provide always the complete truth.
