Coilover manufacturers do a lot of things for a lot of different reasons. Sometimes those reasons are performance related.

For what it's worth, the 450/550 with the karcepts front bar at the softest setting will be more front biased than a 550/550 set up with OEM swaybar. Then up from there as you make the bar stiffer. And that's not necessarily a bad thing!



Also this...the 17x9 +35 RPF1s don't have great BBK clearance and can be limiting.

I relied on CSG for the pad choice, and Karcepts for the spring rate balance. My favorite pads are Raybestos ST43/47, but they're out of stock. I'd likely try those next when it's time to replace the pads, if the stocks get replenished. There are also new sintered pads from EBC (SR11, etc.), which promise to be non-corrosive on the wheels, and have even more life than Raybestos pads while retaining good bite. Regarding spring rates, as far as what I understand from my long (and awesome!!) discussion with Karcepts, the new cars push more with square spring setup compared to first gen cars.

Spring rate is also much more important than a sway bar when there's heavy compression, like turn-in. My local tracks are all full of sharp turns. Anyway, looking forward to playing with it all once I receive the car and all these parts..

Running square setup, you’re going to move the brake bias to rear axle.

The fact that compounds are biased more for front bite even from factory is a good sign that they worked on track braking performance, even with those soft compounds. In the end of the day, EBDC, part of ABS, will make sure the brake pressure applied front/rear are proportioned as perfect as possible.

You might be right, but in this day of age, I just don't wanna deal with slider brakes with a terrible taper on pads, etc. The AP 299 mm kit erases 20 lbs from front, and will let me quickly replace pads; cool.

Has anyone installed 6 point and race seats in these cars, yet?

Both are correct. If you want your car to do a few track days a year, dedicated track pads like xp24s and G4 335 fluid will be perfectly fine.

But if you’re doing one like once a month, it makes more sense to have better heat dissipation… so a bbk would be in your interest

Do we know if this is an issue in second gen cars? The new car is stiffer (which might also mean stiffer firewall), and also BBK would probably be easier on the master cylinder since you probably don't need to slam it as hard as you would with the slider OEM brakes.

Mike, do you think 299mm kit will be enough for the Hoosiers? You guys still haven't shipped, so I guess we could still upgrade if 325mm kit would be a better fit : )

I was able to get a set of ST-43 from LPI Racing, but basically he said he called porterfield and they managed to find the materials they needed to make the ST-43 rear on the shelf by chance. Apparently raybestos is moving a bunch of manufacturing stateside due to the shipping problems we have all come to know and love and their manufacturing has been down for a while

As far as I know, it's the other way around, and they moved their manufacturing to Mexico, which started causing all this even before the supply shortages started. I use ST47s for my C7 Z06 as well, and have been having issues sourcing them last summer, too

Really depends on the ultimate weight of your car, and to a degree, the tracks you run.

Balance wise, the 299 is better; if you want a larger kit, I'd point you to something else. If you want AP, the 9660; if you want Brembo, the BM4.

No ETA on the 9660 either, as Essex is very, very late on all of their updated Sprint kits due to supply chain issues.

It's entirely possible that they just took a larger pad and machined it down to the shape of your smaller pad.
