Speaking of karting, we had an excellent E85 karting place with a mega track that was 1/4 outdoor and 3/4 indoor. That place kicked ass.

Sadly their lease apparently got increased ridiculously high last year so they closed up shop. All we have left are the boring K1 Speed places.

I'm thinking of trying to get a wheel without pedals. Dunno if that's a thing. I don't really have space for pedals but could probably pretty easily put a wheel on my coffee table... definitely feel like I could use one sometimes.

Thrustmaster sells their F1 racing wheel and a few others without pedals. Search for "racing wheel add-on" and you should be able to find some. At least, that works on Amazon.

I mean.... Fanatec sells everything separately. But even their starter direct drive may not mix well with coffee table.

It is. On my CSL DD I am having a huge problem getting it to recognize my pedals in ACC and AC. I can use the 2 clutch paddles on the back of the Macca GT3 wheel as throttle and brake but it is extremely hard to use. Once you get the wheel rotated far it is hard to start to apply throttle and it becomes really frustrating. For lower torque wheels you can use a foldable seat setup like the Playseat Challenge. Once you start to get into mid end wheel base's and above they are not sturdy enough to handle the torque of the wheel base.

The cruelest part of my job is when a threat actor has an aggressive malspam campaign using password protected zip archives, but forgets to put the zip password in the email template. It's like holding a new toy directly in front of a dog, but never letting them have it.

But the pedals and being able to go variable/partial throttle via modulation like in a real car is a huge part of the experience. Don't short change yourself. Either way you're going to have to set it up and take it down when using/not using it.

Bah! Nothing terrifying. Just big fun! The arm pump is only because it's brand new for him. That goes away once you learn the machine.

Remember what you said about me wearing my car? That really stuck with me. I would LOVE to wear a kart.
