BMW is like the new Porsche... I can't tell any of them apart. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 series... all look the same to me!

cant read a lick of German but my little eye spies an M badge on that red 2 series. Perhaps a successor to the popular 1M?

EDIT: I can see the article refers to it as a M235i, interesting news.

This looks like a cross between 1 series and 3 series (current). The first thing I thought was "wait, are they killing the 1 series?".

Better "official" photos leaked...

Looking very sweet, can't wait for the road tests to see if they have done away with the nasty understeer... If so, and the price stays at about $45k CAD, a test drive will be booked asap.

Personally I always thought with the next iteration, the 1-series should get smaller & lighter, not bigger.

At this rate, the car I'm interested in is the 0.5 Series Coupe

We likely aren't getting the new 1 series in the USA, if I remember correctly. Also, if I'm remembering correctly, it's going to be FWD.

Love the 2 series.. If I could stretch the budget that far I can honestly say I'd probably pick up a M235i over the twins.

So, seems like 2-series is just the *real* new 1-series? Anyway, if it's 3300 lb. and taller than the 3 like the 1 was, not terribly interested. Really wish they would build a small and reasonably lightweight rwd car in the spirit of the 2002 and E30. They should be taking a very close look at the FR-S/BRZ/GT86...

This 2-series is really the spiritual successor to the old 1-series. I think BMW is going backwards with this next iteration (in terms of size/weight).

I must say that I have a sweet spot in my heart for bimmers...owned a 318ti back in the day, and really loved that car. But the maintenance is more $$$ than I care to spend. This 2 series is intriguing....wondering if it comes to the US...how much, and what are the specs?

Yes it's coming here. Pricing is anticipated to be very close to the current 135i.

According to the leaked official specs the weight actually drops 150 lbs from 3373 lb to 3207 lbs (mt)!

It will look a little less squat and tall than the 135i- it's a couple of inches longer and wider, and one inch shorter. Only 9 inches longer than the twins.

This and the possible 2M/M2 whatever they decide to call it is the only BMW worth looking at anymore. All reviews state the new 3/4 series went bland and the driving feel is not what it use to be. It is possible they don't have the electric steering sorted out yet.

For me, the classic Bimmer will always be the 2002.
The new ones are looking more and more like a half sucked Jolly Rancher.

That could possibly be the second Bimmer I test drive. The first one was back in 1982.
