Yep, took my FR-S up to Billy-Bobs to have the oil and filter changed today.

They took me right in due to my senior status …… got there just before two John Deere tractors arrived.

Bubba had retired, but had come in to spell Billy-Bob, so we had a nice chat. He let me hang out under the car once they shored up a lift, so as the low car would fit on it.

He was about to tighten up the oil drain plug with a monkey wrench when I stopped him and asked if he had anything more sophisticated. He pulled out a Ύ” drive socket …… so, we compromised on a crescent wrench.

The one thing I like about the old time garages is that most of the mechanics come from my generation and they let me hang out and watch them work.

After he let the car down off the lift and kicked out the extra 4”x4” blocks, he proceeded to change the filter. He got a kick out of that tiny “toy” filter, as he called it. Also, he mentioned it seemed to take a lot of oil for such a small engine.

It was a good day.

That's what Bubba said. After the 4th quart, he said that was enough. I explained that the engine was a "boxer" engine ....... he gave me a blank look ...... I said like the old John Deere "POW-POW" tractors, except with 4 opposed cylinders instead of 2.

He said ....... "I see" and put another 1.8 quarts in it....

also installed these LED daytime running lights, the only downside is now I don't have high beams cause they apparently run through the same outlet. Oh well, it looks great 😲 Lol

The high beams do run as a drl stock at a lower light output. Unless it's year specific, mines a '15, I had to disconnect a resistor to disable the drl function.

I'll try to get you one tomorrow using my DSLR again, my iPhone overexposes the lights and you can't see the rings very well with it.

I liked the daytime running light function.
I just switched out the bulb, but if I were to run my high beams, it'll be giving the same amount of light as the drl
