Under my cars hood is stock. Well I did the sound tube delete and added a drop-in k&n with a silicone inlet tube just to clean things up. I keep it clean though!

My HVAC has been deleted. It's a "fair weather" car now. That's okay, it's matches the rubber

Bought my first exhaust since getting the car almost 5 years ago! Since I'm getting a new engine I figured I may as well get things done now.

Did some spring servicing. Replaced two studs, one on each front wheel, serviced the front and rear brakes. Adjusted the E-brake at the shoes, and tossed on the stock wheels.

Have you considered those bumper garnish add-on's that were offered with the quad TRD exhaust to finish off the rear?

Maybe eventually, but not currently something I'm planning on

It fits well, seems lighter than stock and looks awesome. I won't get to hear it for a few months as I put my build together. I like that the hardware you're given is zinc coated

Damn must suck not being able to hear it for a while. Sounds good from videos I’ve seen and looks great. Considered it for a while since it’s different, but on the fence about it.

Changed the cabin and air filter just in time for me engine tear down this Monday to determine if my CEL #P0018 is caused by a stretched timing chain or worn down gear on the crankshaft (as everything else turned out ok).

Question: when you polish your steel lines and throttle body do you use a Dremel and a polishing compound/paste? If so, what tip do you put on the Dremel and do you go through them like water? Also, how do you keep it from getting dull afterwards? Clearcoat over it?

My P0018 was caused by a stretched chain. It came apart a few weeks after I started getting this code intermittently.

No idea, Toyota put the used motor in because they blew my engine twice doing the recall, they wouldn't tell me. I'm assuming in excess of 200k KMs

Just found out it was caused by a timing gear that wore out (?!?!), changed both. Everything else is ok, I wonder if I should do spark plugs since the engine is out?

When did your chain stretch and break (miles/years)? Did you suffer catastrophic engine damage (aside from the damage to your wallet)? Are these interference engines? Until now I didn't know a timing chain could stretch and break without oil starvation. What did you do and did they determine root cause?
