My parents were finally able to schedule appointments. I'm considering going with them to see if I can get a vaccine too with the new "family member/caretaker" rule.

Thing is it sounds a bit more like that's meant for people who are live-in relatives of disabled parents, so would definitely be stretching the rule a bit.

Could be worth a try

I don't think too many people are worried that they are going to die like next day after the shot. That would have been obvious by now. I love how everyone is like see I'm fiiine like 24 hrs later, lol. We'll see in a few years..

I'm going on 32 soon, so I'd say I'll see the effects in about 50 years. Give or take 7 years.

Did you see the thread I posted the other day? There are people part of the very first wave of testing who are public with their experiences even over a year later.

My wife, my son (a first responder) and I all got the Moderna vaccine. For all of us, the first dose caused a sore arm, the second revived the sore arm and left us feeling crappy - lethargic, achy, drowsy for 18 to 36 hours. Then, all done.

I know a number of other people who got the Phizer product. One of two had soreness at the injection site. None report any other reaction either to the first or the second dose.

As to all you guys speculating about becoming a human GMO - all I can offer is a head shake. The chicken little reaction would be funny if the circumstances weren't so serious. The NYT is reporting cases nationwide have plateaued and started back up. Something over 75,000 yesterday. That's not good news. But, there's not much to be done about it, but hope the paranoia doesn't fuck this all up.

Driving back from FL yesterday (visiting my son and family for Easter) I started getting a scratchy throat. By 3:00am I had a full-blown inflamed throat, with rib breaking coughs. Hopped online and made a first appointment at the local Urgent Care this morning.

Got to do both the rapid test for Covid (which was negative) and the standard test because protocol says if I get the rapid test but have symptoms I have to get the other. I tried to explain my entire household is vaccinated, as or 90% of my coworkers I see on a regular basis, but that didn't matter. If I was paying for it, I would have refused it.

They also tested for flu and Streep, both negative. In the end its pollen induced bronchitis, which is no surprise since I live in the State of the Green Snow. There was a 1/4 inch of pollen on our Suburban that lives outside, and it was piled up three inches on the wipers.

Weird how 20% of the population has been vaccinated already yet cases still are going up....

Partially vaccinated 28 Y.O. male in my county now infected with an unknown strain of Covid, symptoms started 8 days after his 1st vaccine shot...now he's intubated in the ICU and no one can explain this new variant....it's like nothing they've seen before. Too bad all coverage of it has stopped...and been scrubbed from the local news sites...

and....I'm sure that Pfizer, Moderna, J&J and all the others have no stake other than public safety and health in this situation...

"Demand for the Pfizer-BioNTech shot, also known as Comirnaty, has soared thanks to the strong efficacy it has demonstrated thus far. Pfizer expects $15 billion in 2021 sales from existing orders of the vaccine. The companies have so far inked supply deals for 1.4 billion doses.

The companies are working around the clock to try to meet demand. This week, BioNTech said the partners aim to churn out 2.5 billion doses this year.

Meanwhile, Pfizer and BioNTech have recently launched a new study to evaluate the effect of a third, booster shot against circulating and potential new variants. They said it would offer a “flexible solution for rapidly adapting the vaccine” for use against potential new virus strains.

BioNTech management also suggest a potential for a booster every six to 18 months based on observations of declining neutralizing antibody titers after the initial two-dose vaccination schedule. But in an investor note Tuesday, SVB Leerink analyst Daina Graybosch argued the third shot “could be more broadly effective and durable in protection than the initial prime/boost of BNT-162b2—limiting the need for long-term re-boosting.”

It sounds like you are selling the additional research as a bad thing. But I see them reinvesting what they have made off the vaccine into further research that may or may not work out. Totally what I would do if I were them. Yes they are a business with employees who need to be paid and shareholders who would like to see a profit, we don't live in a communist society after all. I don't see the problem here.
