I think I broke the tie rod.......
I need some input here guys! I am really worried now!!
![]() So I was at a Test N Tune today and I i guess I was having too much fun. I spin out during one of the corners and hit nothing (it was a big open space), but I heard a bump. My assumption is that I might have spin out to a bumpy area that break one of my tie rod. So at the end of the event, I drove home and I realize that my car is leaning towards the left when the steering wheel is straight. I have to hop around 15-20 degree to the right to keep my car straight. Its sunday tomorrow, so I probably won't be able to check my car until Monday. I don't think I will drive it until then. If anyone know what might happen to my car, please give me some feedback. I am thinking about it all night. Thank you guys!! Updates in the bottom! Last edited by jshum; 06-02-2014 at 08:56 PM. |

If you broke a tie rod you wouldn't have driven home.
You did fuck up something though. Have aftermarket suspension? Slotted struts, camber bolts, camber plates? I've screwed up my camber spinning and had the car pulling. In my case it was slotted struts, loosened and put back to desired camber. |

If you leave the track for any reason (spin, slide wide, etc), you should do a check of ALL the suspension parts before going back out on the track or driving it home, ESPECIALLY if you can feel something isn't right while driving it. As for what you did, you definitely didn't break a tie-rod. One might be bent, but not fully snapped. You may also have bent a strut or bent a lower control arm. If the car is pulling so hard to the left with the wheel straight you should be able to see what isn't pointing in the right direction with the wheels still on the car.

Thanks for the input! I really appreciate it. And I learned a lesson from this. I will definitly watch out next time whenever I am finish with an event. Ya...I think its bent from what I have seen on people's posting on what a bent tie rod can cause. It has the same symptoms. Will have the car checked first thing monday morning.

If you didn't hit anything I really don't see how you would have bent a tie rod.
