How much should I expect to pay?
I wanted to know if you guys could help me figure out how much I should pay for s used brz/frs since prices seem to be fluctuating quite a bit. I've looked all over Craigslist and facebook and have yet to see a clean example for a decent price. All the ones I see are over 100k miles and priced at 12-15k which is just ridiculous. I'm in Georgia if that matters at all.

Just keep looking.
With no new cars at the dealers, Anything can happen to the price. |

somewhere between $1 and $100,000. "fair market value" has a number of different meanings in relation to "supply and demand"
keep in mind there's also the toyota tax on the fr-s/86 variations that somewhat adds to the price.

Used car prices are so freaking high right now that I didn't even consider used.
Plus the primary target demographic for this car tends to be a group that, shall we say, tends to abuse vehicles. I guess it also helps that we tend to keep our cars for an extended period of time (typically 10+ years) which is safer/easier with a new vehicle.

Be willing to travel to save a thousand bucks or just accept what your local market is selling it at.
Nationwide Cargurus is showing FRS's with 100k-120k miles selling for $11k-$12k, you might be able to haggle if the cars been sitting for awhile but otherwise accept it's a relatively low production car that will see steady demand as prices fall. |

Theres a bunch of new ones still on a few lots where i live.
at this point im starting to lean towards trying to get a deal off a new one rather than wait for a used one in my preferred spec to show up (which is few and far between). I think some dealers want to clear out the 2020 86's taking up space on their lots so hopefully a good deal can be had (briefly spoke to one dealer that had one unit that was way overpriced, and he told me they were desparate to get rid of it) But the longer i hold out the closer it'll be to the 2nd gen release and then maybe i can wait for that.....(now that the GR86 has finally been revealed) |

Subarus have insane resale values, but that does sound a bit high anyway. I don't usually buy new, but I recently did and having gone (knock-on-wood) almost 60k with no MX except a battery that was failing the dead of winter in CT... I'm a bit spoiled now. I have 2 other project cars though and love doing that stuff even though I don't really have the time for it anymore. If they are priced too high they will be begging for half that in 6 months, and if they sell at that price well than they weren't actually priced too high.
