Tuning for e85 help
So I know this might sound crazy but im going to tune my 17 BRZ on e85 with ecutek WITHOUT a FF kit and racerom.
I figured it should be pretty simple add 40-50% more fuel to cranking, add timing till I slightly knock then back off, and of course adjust my MAF scaling. Is there anything else I should take note from you Pro's or experts out there? Thanks! Edit: Using Wayno's tune as a guide for e85 changes... Last edited by TougeSpeed; 04-06-2021 at 07:11 PM. |

If your using waynos tune as i guide you should just use waynos tune if its for a 2017+ Without flex kit you need stable ethanol content arround 70% or more is best, unfortuatly some USA e85 can be as low as 50%. Without ecutek that has pre setup ethanol fueling its a bit harder to get fueling set up in opensource you need to be adding up to 100% or more base cranking pulsewidth ( ecutek uses a scalar so its easier depending on coolant temp or intake air temps fueling you need to gludge the injector scaalar and the di pressure targets in opensource, again ecutek its way easier , to add the 30% extra fuel required. also remember everything in scaled in petrol afr in the tune tables even though your running e85 timing you rearly need a dyno as sometimes on e85 you go past mbt without knock unlike petrol where its usually knock limited. your probably better off paying for a tune than trying to work it out from scratch unless your rearly kean and prepared to spend a lot of time on it. basicly ecutek does the e85 fueling and timing and cranking fueling way different than opensource. Do you have full racerom access in ecutek ie purchaded the racerom extension and have access to ecutek Flex fuel, closed loop fuel control maps . Both of tthose you want if your runnig no flex kit on ecutek. ecutek closed loop fufel control will save you to a point by keeping afr on track as ethanol content changes. |

Thanks for the detailed respond Steve. After reading your post I think it might be best for me to pony up for the Racerom features. And Eventually FlexFuel..

You don`t want to be a Crash Test Dummy for a Wayno tune. Thats for Sure!
