What I would be interested in is, has anyone been able to remedy the issue? Any adjustments to the AC compressor clutch or services performed at the Toyota center that have worked for anyone?

My car has this, 780 miles, manual transmission. At first I legitimately thought a bird was in my car, like a stupid sparrow or something. Then I realized it was coming from the AC clutch. TWEET TWEET TWEET driving me nuts.

Just in case you guys didn't see in my driveline resonance thread, I showed this issue to the Subaru district rep. for my area yesterday. He's looking into it to see what's causing the noise and what can be done about it.

+1 for me. Currently at 1,500 miles, but I've noticed it after the first few days.

If you guys are hearing it, whether it bothers you or not, you should call Scion/Subaru and make a case about it, or even simply email them describing it. I told my rep about it when discussing my case, he said they just haven't heard much about this AC squeak so there is likely nothing being done about it right now...

It's the loud click from the AC compressor clutch pulley (located beside oil filter) that pauses spinning about every 15 sec. It only tweet when my AC is turned on. I don't notice it anymore (but still exists) since all I hear is my sweet intake sound. If it bothers you just roll down your windows and turn AC off until it can be fixed.

Mine is doing this too. The summer is almost over, so I might wait until next year to get it fixed.
Has anyone found a solution? |

It seems like this problem gets solved with the engine chirp TSB.

If you turn of the A/C and just turn on the air... I still get the tweet. It sounds like it's in the cabin.

So I didnt know about this thread until someone posted it on a thread I just made. Seems like its gotten a little quiet since last year, probably due to winter time driving with no AC. Has anyone had any luck resolving this issue?
Quote:
I just took my FR-S into the dealer today to get his AC chirp and the engine crickets looked at and they are finally going to go through with the TSB (though they said the AC chirp is a normal sound). I guess I'll report back when the new parts are installed. |
