I have decided to jump ship and go with a WRX that the pro-orderer found to be too ugly (Already have a crosstrek in the household so plastic molding doesn't bother me much). A sapphire blue, limited, automatic 2022 should be available by July in the Cincinnati area. The dealership is charging MSRP. PM me for more details if this sounds like what you want. The only option is the auto-dimming HomeLink mirror.

2023 BRZ Premium 6MT in WRB, no options. Order was placed at Northtown Subaru in Buffalo NY on 4/25/2022. Haven't received an email from SoA with a VON or anything but I do have a SO number and a picture of the SO Certificate. The sales manager said I should receive an ETA a few days after the order is placed, however I don't have that. Called the dealership and spoke to them about it, and it just seems like there is a lot of uncertainty due to the global supply chain crisis. I am a little frustrated that it seems like the vast majority of orders are accompanied by an email from SoA and I have not received that, though.
In short, the order is in, and it is a waiting game. Estimated delivery from the dealer staff was July/August, but I fully expect to be waiting until October or November. |

I'm one of those guys. I have absolutely nothing other than the SO# (not even an estimated arrival date), and I ordered on 1/6/22.

That's not my long term evolution as a being here on Earth. My next move will put me 1-10 miles of most everything that I need (work , play, shopping) , so if I drive a car 1-2 days during the week to run some errends , then that's fine. In general, I'd rather walk, or cycling. It's better for the mind and body.

The other kicker is given those accident % with in however many miles of home, given each accident /circumstance you don't know if the driver had only driven 5-15 miles into town /back home , or if they were coming back at night time after a 50+ mile journey , and they were possibly fatigued /tired behind the wheel the last 1-20 miles before accent happened.
Lots of potential factors. Still , I'd rather live 1-10 miles from most things I need day to day (less wear and tear on vehicle, less gas consumption ). Walk /ride bike to places 1-6 miles away (roughly) , drive 8-15 miles away ( shop/run errands). Sure, maybe one day per month....4-6 weeks you venture out of county 50+ miles and take a longer journey. Usually when people are driving 15k-30k miles per year, they usually live /work 40+ miles away commute and/or chasing some kind of $$ down.

I think he was just messing with you. Most accidents happen near the home, because for most people, that's where you spend the most time.
15 miles is about the farthest I ever get from my house the vast majority of the time, even then it's only if we are going downtown to the comedy club, concert, or a Thunder game. The office (now closed permanently) was 6 miles from the house. Multiple grocery stores, gas stations liquor stores and other "food/art/drinking" districts are all 8-11 miles from the house.

It really is as simple as this. The "Law" of averages stated in the first post shows that statistically you are at more risk near home because that is where you spend the most time.

Well sure, you spend the most time there since you have to have a roof over your head... sleep 7-8 hours per night, eat , etc. Some people work from home.
That doesn't tell the whole story why accidents tend to happen a large % of time near (with in 1-8 miles from home) . What is the solution, be transitory .... always on the move , Road Warrior .... live no where ??!!

Accidents happen close to home ( 1-10 miles) a high % of the time, due to drivers being complacent ( tired from a long day, etc) and not being on the defensive until they park @ home. Also, some people can/ do speed a bit closer to home ( 1-10 miles), since they know they're close to home, want to get home and eat /shower, start the next phase of the day /night.
To some degree it is a "Time" element /factor , but one could also say it's a matter of being at the wrong place /wrong time as well.
