I have read somewhere the optimal cam timings are quite different between the ACE and JDL which might explain the spikeyness of your torque curve.

Have you tried Wayno's tune for regular EL headers?
ACE are a bit different, in that the 'overpipe' is actually the last merge collector in the '4-2-1' series, so the 'merging' is done over a much longer pipe length overall. With the JDL, the merging is all done before the overpipe junction.

All Wayno's EL tunes have zero per cylinder compensation, but his ACE maps run quite a bit more timing than his other EL maps. Really want to see you succeed, but we may all be hoping for too much from the JDL design, to expect it to run right on an off-the-shelf ACE tune.

Yes I have, but not on the dyno unfortunately. I did collect data during street pulls and the engine load or VE did show a similar waviness, so I assume that would be reflected on the torque curve too, even if it was shifted up a little.

My objective was to get a first experience with dyno testing, and some sort of a baseline of what my setup can achieve. To be honest the choice of rom between ACE and EL was a bit arbitrary.

Very interesting info, because I was thinking about purchasing a Wayne tune too. You don´t have a run with the stock tune or OTS tune though?

However... why did you choose the ACE tune over the EL tune? Our JDL 4-2-1 is a short EL, not a long one like the ACE

Edit: Oh ok! I did not see the last posts
In my case, I will be purchasing the regular EL. The only difference should be the zero per cylinder compensation though

guys, both headers require more logging and retuning
anyone posting dyno or logs with wayno tunes and ace or JDL have subpar results compared to other well known ecutek tuner
so it worth if you spend some time adjusting afr and increase timing to knock limit, don t just put OTS tunes and pretend they work ideally from the beginning

Nobody is pretending it is ideal. I just did some testing for the sake of it and posted the results, thinking some may find it useful or at the very least somewhat interesting. That's all there is to it.

The EL has more advance on the intake AVCS below 5600 rpm.

Ah ok, it does not say that on the website. I will order the EL soon considering the ACE is specific for the long length and then try to adjust AFR and timing as he describes and I guess that the most we can do with OFT tune...

In the final tune I settled on, which is based on the Wayne roms, I actually tuned out the torque bump I was getting at 4600 rpm to make it more constant across the rpm range. Some people may find that to be an odd decision!

What do you mean about tuning out, I mean what did you change?

I reduced the angles in the intake and exhaust AVCS tables on the 4600rpm row.

What have people been doing about the contact between the header and underbody shield? Cut to form? It seems to bow out a solid 1/4 to 1/2 inch on Perrin motor mounts.

Try to "massage" the panel with a hammer

Put my order through this week.
Given a rough ETA of 4 weeks, they're prepping for the next batch of builds.
