hks legamax 124mm tips
oem jdm STI exhaust 120mm tips
greddy supreme 114mm tips

Yea same here, I’m considering those 3, but burnt tips just don’t go well with red IMO, so the Legamax is out for me.

If anyone is wondering why Perrin exhausts discolor around the muffler canister...

No proper Y pipe diverter inside. Just a large empty void with side walls and exit pipes.

The exhaust gas fumes hit the back wall of the muffler, circulate around in the large empty discolored void and then get forced out the side pipes.

A crude inefficient design that hurts exhaust flow velocity and scavenging effect.

Interesting…when I had my first gen the Perrin exhaust yielded the best dyno results if I remember correctly.

I’d probably go Perrin on my 2nd gen, but I’d prefer ss tips vs the brushed look.

I feel the exact same way. They look alright but it's a cop magnet lately these days.

So I did a Google search, and the consensus is that the burnt tip can be cleaned off and polished. Looks like HKS uses s304 stainless steel and it'll polish up quite nicely. That however might not be something you're willing to do especially w a brand new muffler

is it me, or do the tips on every other exhaust (except greddy/borla) look thin compared to the jdm sti exhaust???

jeez...if only there was someone in the US and active on this forum that could tease us with photos and sound clips @Racecomp Engineering wink wink

I'm confused by your post. There has never been a problem cleaning/polishing burnt tips.

Or are you saying you can remove the actual coloring of the burnt tip?

Yup remove the coloring. Few forums mention hks as well so I'm assuming it should work.
