We usually plan them on the San Antonio Meet thread. Currently looking at 18 or 25 Jan.

Hi, I just got my new 14 raven frs in San Antonio about 2 weeks ago. I have two questions to ask?
1. Where is the best deal in San Antonio to get the clear bra for the hood, bumper, and mirrors? 2. Although I love my car I would eventually like to start off with at least some mods like cold air intake and exhaust. But when I talked to the dealer they were threatening about warranty may be voided. Do you all know more info on this? Does it really? And does it affect the 2 year maintenance free program too? Sorry ahead of time if this has already been answered before. Just couldn't find anything on this. Thanks |

Cam Plate Oil leak...anybody else in local area having this problem?
@jimbobrand I've got the dreaded passenger side cam plate leak. About 3 weeks ago noticed faint odor of burning oil coming in from the ventilation system right after re-placing the cabin air filter. Smell is getting worse it seems. Adam pointed out my problem at C&C yesterday. Bottom of cam plate has oil residue on it and the 0W-20 is slowing dripping on my insulation wrapped MOTIV overpipe. Dangit.
Jim, I remember you telling me about this issue you had awhile back and I recently read the thread of your ordeal with the dealership and having to take it in multiple times, having to call Subaru customer service rep, etc. before finally getting it resolved. Plus the BS of alleging you did a tune on your car and what not. I understand the intent of taking it to dealer so Subotas issue TSBs but, I'm not as patient or willing to put up with dealer crap like you did...and, I know I have better skills for something like this than the tech that is likely to fix it should I take it in. I'm sure we both agree - A thin layer of pookie sealant with dis-similar metals prone to different rates of heat expansion/contraction is not a good design unless the sealant used is at a thickness capable of both permanent adhesion and performs to allow slight movement under heat and vibration conditions, oil resistant, too. Long term, this is asking a lot IMO. Just looking at it is so obvious there are gonna be failures. This is so obviously inferior from an engineering standpoint. I am tempted to get a Raceseng cam plate and be done with it: $84.45 shipped. (Missed out on the $60 introductory pricing.) vs. a $10 or so pookie fix. Anybody know of a local cycle shop that would have Three Bond 1184 FIPG type sealant in stock? Permatex Ultra Grey or Toyota seal packing FIPG would also likely work. Read the threads below for some great tips if you are gonna DIY. Hopefully, Raceseng will get some competitors and maybe aftermarket cam plate prices will go down...might take > year or so...ultimately, the OEM part is gonna go in the garbage if it leaks on me again. Anyway, heads up if anyone smells some burning oil in their 86. Crap on a cracker... I've been smelling the faint odor of burning oil over the last few weeks as well, and have been trying to figure out where it's coming from.

Washed the ole girl today and threw a front plate on with zipties.. need to last six months without being pulled over..
Car hit 24k the other day. I've got about 19k in milage since my last engine hiccup and hope i won't have that issue, John. Tail lights seem to be the only thing i'm replacing on a regular basis. Amped for a run in January! |

^^ May the force be with you for the next 6 mos.! Here lately when I get down on it the Ka alert suddenly pegs on the escort. Happened twice today! Spidey sense not working to good when that happens!!
I've been fortunate...got stopped earlier this year, officer was running my plate as I sat there and waited and then all of a sudden just turned around and speed off other direction before even coming to car window. I guess he got a more important call. It was a "These aren't the droids you're looking for" moment! His actions implied, "Move along." I did! Quickly, too. Whew. Lucked out for sure. BRZ is getting close to the 17K mark which is the next regularly scheduled OCI. Probably will hit around the time for the sisters run. Tail lights as in bulbs - or condensation in the assemblies? Just did a H7 headlight bulb this evening on wife's CC and now there's a amber upgraded halogen fog light bulb out in the Sierra. I don't have a spare for that one. Bulbs are problematic at times! Your FRS is lookin' purty, Tuck. Obvious u r still pamperin' her with the Adams touch! Hope you ace them finals if you still have some to go!

Tail lights as in the entire assembly and the seals on them. I have a fish bowl for a drivers side tail light. Done the seals at least four times and i believe tail light assemblies three times. I try and keep her looking good! I have two more finals to go and i'll be golden for the semester! Can't wait to be done!! |
