Frs possibly burning oil
I recently noticed that slowly my 2015 frs is loosing oil. I check the dip stick around once a week since I do honestly drive the car whenever I can maybe 50 to 150 miles daily and that is also hard driven but Rev limiter is never hit. I'm running a custom etune from shiv for stage 2 uel e85 and it's been about a month or 2 and the car runs great. I installed a perrin oil cooler also when I was getting the tuning done. Maybe the oil could be a little low since it may sit in the cooler? But I'm not sure how it works 100%. But today I also installed a single Radium oil catch can. I went out for a drive and I drove how I would normally drive I got home and when I went to check the dipstick there was no oil on it but a little smoke was coming out of the hole for the dipstick any ideas? Thanks for the help

Did you add any oil when you added the oil cooler?

The engine just may be confused as to where the "new full" line is ..... humfrz PS - if your car is "burning" that much oil ........ there will be no doubt if you look at/smell the exhaust when it's running ........ |

Also if my memory is correct, the perrin cooler is thermostatic check and make sure at cold temps that the oil level is a bit over the fill line, then start the car and allow to warm up to circulate the oil through the cooler at the temp, I have a feeling the oil that remains in the cooler is marginal if not a slow trickle

I'm 100%ive got no leaks anywhere the header is clean and so is the skid plate. I do change my oil about every 3k miles but I've been using Mobil 1 and someone told me it's not the best going to be trying motul to see if e85 is going to be as rough as it is.

Also according to the installation manual for the perrin oil cooler here: http://perrinperformance.com/attachment/178266-.pdf When you do an oil change: Start your car like normal and let it run for 10 seconds, then shut engine off. Heavily inspect all oil lines and connections for leaks. If no leaks are found, add your additional QT of oil at this time. That means the a car with the perrin oil cooler should use 6.4 liters of oil not 5.4 liters as is normally the case. Next oil change make sure 6.4 liters is added then watch it like a hawk, the only other issue I can think of is the motor is burning it up.

Hopefully it isn't the motor burning it up but I'll order the oil soon and get it changed up and see from there

Take the tray off and look for oil leaks.

There is leak someplace that you just have not found yet or you didn't have enough in there in the first place.

Definetly isn't the front timing cover and I never see thick clouds of smoke and I've also never smelled oil burning. I'll get the car jacked up after work and I will check it out from underneath.

I removed the skid plate and checked underneath the engine I don't see anything that looks to be oil coming out of anywhere and the skid plate is clean.

So, @Abe1120 ...... did you do what I suggested .. ??
I'd suggest you park it on the flat ......then check the oil level again. If it's low, add oil up to the full line. Drive it for a few miles, let it sit and check the oil level again. humfrz |
