Frs rear end
So I have a frs with a ls3 in it making around 500whp and 500 ft lbs of torque. I'm looking for possible options to rebuild the rear end. I am stuck between going with a ford 8.8 rear end swap and just upgrading the axels. I wanted to see if there is any after market diff that I can upgrade to that will handle the power I'm sitting at and bolt right up. The car will also be used for drag racing and will be launched so i need a diff that can take a beating. I guess I'm just trying to see if there are cheaper options than the ford rear end that will get the job done.

The OEM differential can handle the power no problem.
The axles will be the weak link. Driveshaft shop makes upgraded axles, or you can look into using stronger oem axles with a bit of fabrication and research. Someone on FB is using 350Z axles for example.

The 8.8 is used mainly for drag, I haven't seen anyone so far using it for track. IMO best practice is to upgrade the axles / hubs if needed and place an adjustable 2 or 1.5 way lsd from OS Giken, Tomei, or Cusco. Get some good Poly or solid mounts for the load transfer.
I've got about 470 wtq with an OS with stock ring and pinion. That's how I would do it. PS. If you upgrade the diff, make sure you change all the bearings and such. I'm curious on what you decide, I to have though about an 8.8 swap, I will only swap for durability and track use tho. Sent from Tapatalk

The rear end is the strongest part of the drive line. First is transmission, then half shafts, then rear end. Not sure where the driveshaft fall in place but never heard of anyone having any issues with it.
