You need to reduce the resolution. Although that one really does make the orange peel pop.

And orange peel is from drying too fast not hardness anyway.

Bad bad meme.

It's soft, the only way to keep it "mar" free is not washing the car

Vinyl is soft. Go ahead, try to scratch it.
Also I'm in for the rant. I think I know where it goes but I don't think I've heard this one before.

What Tcoat said. Also, don't attach the image directly to the post. If you create an album for your image uploads, and post links to them inline, vBulletin resizes them automatically to the 800-pixel limit.

Or you can upload them to imgur and post links to the image (not the post.) For instance, here's my upload of your image to imgur. h.t.t.p.s://i.imgur.com/T40MeHZ.png

Then I append the file name with g (giant), l (large), m (medium), and s (small)

we get

Or you get nothing because a lot of corporate security groups block imgur since it is a file sharing site, not just photo site.

I miss about 25% of the photos on here because of that, through two different companies that have had the same policy on imgur.

Readers Digest condensed version.
2011 the world agreed to ban many solvents that produced high levels of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
Most of the automotive paints in use at that time used these VOCs
The companies scrambled to replace these with approved solvents usually water or alcohol based instead of xylene and acetone
The new solvents often did not work well with the old application systems
The results were heavier orange peel (forced to dry to fast) and hard, brittle, coatings due to the loss of elasticity because of the different flash off of the solvents
The Subaru plants in Japan are still using the old application systems so have paint "issues"
The newer Subaru plants in the US are using updated equipment and do not have paint issues (I doubt you could chip the paint on my wife's Ascent with a hammer although I am not going to attempt it as proof)
The assembly plants pump cars through as fast as possible meaning they force the paint dry. With normal cars they make money on volume not mark up. This is why you will often see "better" paint on low volume, high markup cars such as Porsches and Mercedes. They aren't using a higher quality paint they just have the time to let it dry slower and maintain that flex.

The "softer" the paint the more resistant to scratches and chips it will be since it will flex instead of being damaged. You could not make a paint "hard" enough to resist chips.

Throw a rock at a piece of glass (hard) and then at a pillow (soft) and tell me which takes more damage!
