Keyless Entry not working!
Hi forum, I took my car into the shop to fix some dents on my driver side door. I got it back and the keyless entry isn't working! The passenger side locks and unlocks fine with my hand hovering over the designated lock /unlock areas but the driver side doesn't respond to anything. Is there a way to re sync the fob?
I'm going to probably end up just taking it back Monday but I'm hoping I can remedy the issue myself. Thanks in advance |

They may have unhooked something in the door in which case you would have to pull it apart to check. An easy check to see if just a electronic issue would be too try unhooking the battery for a couple of minutes. If it is just a BCM issue that could reset it.

Thanks for the advice. I tried disconnecting th battery for a few minutes but no luck :/ my car is due for an oil change. If I take it in tomorrow and mention the issue would the dealership attempt to fix? Car is under warranty by the way.

If the body shop screwed something up then warranty will not cover it. Unless of course you have one of the better dealers that will just fix it and send you on your way.

The BCM in our cars is so damn finnicky it's kind of annoying I see so many people have issues after installing LEDs or HIDs and everything just goes bad after that even though its a high quality kit.

It is like they want to computerize everything whether it needs to be or not. That sometimes goes dreadfully wrong.

Well took it to the dealer yesterday for the oil change and mentioned the issue. They say it'll cost 375 just to diagnose it.

I'd take it back to that body shop and ask them to fix it. How did they PDR the door? Did they jam something to split open the window seal and then put a pry rod down there and push the dent out?

The first logical thing to do, return the car to the shop which did the bodywork.
Other option is to simply fix the problem yourself. I agree with Tcoat. "They may have unhooked something in the door in which case you would have to pull it apart to check." That something could be either electrical or mechanical. Remove door panel and look at all connections within the door. Yeah definitely taking it back to the body shop. It had some pretty large dents on the driver door. There's some welding on the door as well so I know they disassembled it. Goin to bring it into the shop to address the issues on the morning

Most likely that bodyshop didn't want to mess with taking the large dents out, so they instead welded onto the door, an entire new door shell (door skin).
