Yea the weight is one downside. Unfortunately the tires I will be getting are fairly heavy too.
Falken FK-453 245/40/17 are 25 lbs.
The 235's aren't much less at 24 lbs. I will be sticking with the Falkens because I can get them EXTREMELY cheap.

I think that the diameter change would be small enough that you wouldn't notice either way. 235 or 245. But I could be wrong.

Although, I did see that the Continental Extreme Contact DW 245/40r17 weigh in at 21.4 lbs. Not sure why they are so light compared to others?

Post pics as soon as you mount your setup please! I have been counting down the days til my christmas bonus so I can place the order. I will have to drool over your setup while I wait.

::UPDATE::

Got the wheels delivered by UPS today and excitedly opened the boxes: the color is great!. Wheels weigh 15.6 lbs for the 17x8's and 16.4 lbs for the 17x9's on my bathroom scale. Honestly the differences between the faces pof the front/rear wheels is SSOO subtle that it's hard to tell the difference.

Unfortunately, they didn't send me the lugnuts or hubcentric rings, so install has to continue to wait...

You should not have any issues. There will be a little more bulging on the 8" width rim with 235 NT05s, however, NT05s generally run narrow for the EHP category. If you're looking for different handling characteristics, then the extra sidewall stiffness in the rear from a slight "stretch" should mean a little more grip than the fronts.

You can install them without the rings and with your old lugs until the other stuff arrives. I know I would if I was waiting... :-)

I'm not going to mention any names until my order has been filled. Don't want to upset anyone and risk any further delays. I've already waited 3 months from the time of the order because Weds had to custom build the 17x9's.

Most annoying part is that I was planning a road trip for the end of the year and it looks like I won't have the new wheels on the car in time for that to happen

And I don't want to risk any damage to the wheels by using the stock lugs (I don't know if they're compatible and too lazy to check)
