So ive got a '15 auto frs. I havent noticed the downshifting issue, but only drive in manual mode about 10% of the time. I have noticed the when driving in the nonsport drive mode till the car is warm. Then putting the car in sport mode the car has very hard upshifts in sport and manual mode. Also i am the second owner and unsure in the first got it fix, because i didnt get it directly from the owner.

Would the update fix this?

Hey guys I got a 2015 brz
Bought around 16k miles has around 23k now
Never really though much about the hard shifting
Today I finally decided to search about it came across a bunch of threads
Now I am here lol
I have it tuned with the oft do I need to tune it back to stock to get the ten/Tim taken care of?
Figuring I'll give them a call tomorrow and say it's having idle problems and hard shifting?
Thanks for the help in advance.

I'd go back to stock because the dealerships would find any reason not to perform the reflash. I would stop by when the problem actually occurs just to show them, and then set an appointment to get it reflashed. I tried to take mine in yesterday to get fixed but the service guy said that they have to verify the problem and told me to come back when the problem pops up again. I tried to show them video proof but they said they have to see it in person, so don't waste your time setting an appointment just to possibly get turned away.

I notice it happens most when switching from the different modes.
Example: starting car and driving it normal then switching to sport mode for whatever reason then eventually switching back to normal. It seems to work fine if you keep it in the same mode the whole drive.
Im going to call them and see what they say. I hate the dealership by me.

Same with me, or a sure way on getting it to occur is to put it on cruise control on the freeway. I got it verified by a tech today and i'm going to bring it in on thursday to get it reflashed. Good luck with yours!

This. The exception being I've found that is your start driving in normal and come to a complete stop you can switch to sport and it'll work fine, but not if you have already switched to sport while moving. Now I just put in sport the moment I get in my car and haven't looked back. I'd really like to have a switch that keeps it on all the time.

So far I feel like this has fixed my problem. Will have a better idea once we take a longer trip. But feels much smoother.

My problems went away too and all shifting with ATM is smoother and more like I expected. Sport or regular mode work great now.

Get this done if you qualify for the TSB.

This was my issue too but after the TSB fix, all works like it should. No hard shifts after switching to sport mode and normal mode shifts work better too. TSB doesn't mention this problem but it fixes it. Tell them you have the idle fluctuation problem to get them to do it. Before this TSB came out I complained about the hard shifting and they tried to tell me it was "normal" and there was nothing they could do. BS. After the TSB came out and I mentioned the problem again, they said the same thing until I told them I had the idle fluctuation problem (which I never noticed) and then they did the fix. Not sure why they won't admit this other problem is fixed but it does.

With so many complaints, you would think the dealers would just do it for you without question. They should definitely expand the tsb to all years across the board.
