Good call. No shame in cutting losses. Let the experts run their own game.

Do let us know what the issue ended up being. My guess is spark plugs or coil packs due to the way it's behaving.

Well snap, looks like the injector cleaning is finally starting to work. So, I did make the appointment for my P0301 code to be diagnosed, then a day before the appointment, the car quit throwing the code.

I'm on bottle 4 of injector cleaner and it appears it might actually be working. Or rather, as others have brought up, maybe the recent wet weather has given a loose ground a better connection and solved the problem. Still not sure, but cancelled the appointment with Surgeline and had a good discussion with them on next steps and other plans for the car.

I showed up for my appt with some other work I had planned, my rear LCAs, but they turned me away and said I should wait until I put coils on it unless I want to do the work twice. I said I didn't want to yank the appointment at the last minute and wanted to offer alternative work so they didn't lose money with me cancelling. They told me not to worry about and then we talked about options going forward. That said, I don't have that many with the HKS SC as it's pretty close to where it's going to be anyway without more exhaust mods to get it breathing better. Same thing with the tune discussion, we can do it with what you have, stock with a catback system, but best if you do your mods first so you don't have to do it again. Their tunes run about $1100 start to finish, so I'll be shopping for more exhaust bits first. Really happy with this shop's service and consultation.

For now, I'm going to keep monitoring and use up the rest of my injector cleaner. If it makes a comeback, I'll be making another appointment.

Took the car in, #1 coil is burned. Oafish me, I had pulled #3 finding it fine thinking I was on #1 cylinder. The good news, I have a good replacement as I bought one for that work and swapped in a new one. The shop couldn't get one during my visit. Had the plugs changed, they said they looked awful and recommended a 30-40k interval and not the 60K. Car has 110k now, changed plugs roughly late 60k range at dealership. Plugs were visibly eroded and gap was an extra 0.010 when measured. Did not get the gap numbers. Good to know though, should help once I get a good coil, in the right place no less.

So that issue is solved. Note to self, next time look up the firing order before I start. Screwed up on the very first step and never found the actual problem.

Tomorrow, I install my old coil from #3. Knew I should have tossed that in the trunk before I went to the shop, damn.
