MFD 06/12
VIN LAST FOUR: 5636
Outside temp W/Idle issue: 90+

I couldn't get it to be recreated with the master tech and I in the car today . Its only been 85 deg(when it was happening a lot 90+) today so maybe its heat related like many other people have said? So i added outside temp in which this has been happening.

Wasn't there an ecu replacement offered on all cars prior to VIN (last four) 6000? Moto-P has posted on this subject.

got an update today. I will get the FRS back on friday. They told me the same exact thing i stated in an earlier post, they need to keep the car though for 3 more days to run testing on it. They need to run the car for 3 days with a computer plugged in to record data or some crap . But the service guy said he will have a full report for me on friday with everything that was wrong and what they did to the car, I'll post it up once I receive it.

If I were you, I'd immediately brush up on the lemon laws of your state and demand nothing less than a new car.

I can't think of any valid argument against what I've just said.

PS: Hammer, I'm also in Simi. Send me PM and we should meet up when you get your car
You didn't go to UCI by any chance did you?

Automobile Mag drivers had their FR-S stall on them during a photo shoot. Maybe not the same issue, but I thought it was interesting.

I really hope the 3 day testing isn't something that will become standard procedure. I would be fuming...as if I'm not already...

I have to assume that the FR-S and the BRZ do not run sequentially in VIN numbers off the assembly line. Mine is due in to the dealer (BRZ) on 9/10 and my last 4 are in the mid 2500's. It appears that they are not trying to resolve this problem in the engine assembly plant. This problem is turning into a major thumb in the eye for the car maker and you've gotta believe that people who have cars on order are really having second thoughts.

A car with 91 miles needs cam sprockets and something with the VVT fixed. WTF? Not good. More pissed off car owners. The old "It's a first year car, you should expect some hiccups" is not what anybody wants or needs to be hearing. This is something that I might imagine would halt production until it gets resolved if more and more cars go down.

I've got a 2001 PT Cruiser sitting in a garage with about 60,000 miles on it and it developed a clutch problem about 2 years ago and I didn't have the money to fix it then, but $1,500 for the repair now is beginning to sound better and better than spending $30K for a car that only goes 91 miles.....

i've noticed that although mines an auto, when in park or even in drive at a stoplight, it never idles lower than .5 rpms, is this normal??? also the engine after driving around for 10-15 minutes and after driving home on the highway and still driving thru some streets never reaches mid temp on the temp gauge. Is this normal??

Another one goes down for the cam sprocket problem (tied to the idle dip it appears). 'primo' posted in another thread in this forum that his car has also suffered the same fate as Hammer's car (above), which I believe were purchased from the same dealer. primo's VIN is in the 27xx range and mine which hasn't arrived yet, is 2594, which I would have to assume was built before primo's so I'm a little confused as to how a car with a higher VIN number is here already and is the CSB color, which mine will be.

Hammer, what is the last 4 of your VIN?

2654... Yes both cars arrived the same day. If I was you, I would demand that you or the dealer test drive your car by stopping and going for about a 1/2hr to see if the car starts showing the idle dip. Better safe than sorry and then you can decide if you still want to take the car.
