This is something every business goes through when they grow. The answer is simple, you hire additional help. If you can't support growth, or don't want to hire people to save money, then you are doomed to failure if you ever do grow.

How in the world does ignoring customers who have paid you money ever help?

I'm not attacking/blaming/etc you BTW, just talking about the situation.

All of these so called garage operated vendors/websites shouldn't be allowed to be vendors on the forum in my opinion.

With the forum being a for profit site you the FT86Club are responsible to make sure the vendors have a good rating so the forum members don't have any problems with parts purchased from vendors on this site.

Bye..!!

Email I have for him: jrs.86industries@gmail.com

Last email response I received from him was on 2/11. I sent another email yesterday (3 weeks since order date) and never received a reply. Fortunately, it doesn't appear as though my CC has been charged and the dollar amount was relatively small.

The email responses I have received from him were poorly composed, had grammar errors, and consisted of excuses only. I wouldn't present myself in this manner to an acquaintance, nevermind a customer.

I understand this perception, but here's another side of it.

How does one make the "cut"? Do they have to have XX in sales? or do they have to somehow prove that they have good products? Or X number of employees? or a solid reputation in another market?

I ask because none of that addresses a potential growth due to an exciting new chassis and market. There's a very small vendor that I buy Integra bits from called Kingpin Machining. It's run out of his house and he is an engineer who produces awesome spherical bearing bushing replacements for Honda chassis vehicles. His stuff is made in house and he is very open about what he is doing, what parts are used, specs on the bearings, etc. Why would I want to prevent a company like his from being a vendor? The big mass market guys are pushing parts, the small engineering folks are innovating. Nameless is another shop that comes to mind. Fantastic stuff but they are small and slow due to that. Absolutely outstanding customer service and they will hold a technical conversation with a buyer over the phone for quite a while, I've had hour phone calls with them before, even before buying anythng.

Eliminating small shops run by great guys is just a horrible idea, profit driven site or not.

Instead we need to deal with and eliminate vendors who prove themselves to be incapable of supporting their customers. That's the KPI that we need to use to decide who to cut and who to allow.

FT86Club's owners (I'm not one) have zero input on someone elses business. CUSTOMERS always have more input. We can control what they put on the forum, we can't control or guide their business practices.

This was funny from that cached page: Rated #1 Vendor on the Forums. We have everything you need for your FR-S/BRZ/GT86

Who exactly did that rating?

I agree with you on this only >Eliminating small shops run by great guys is just a horrible idea< note the key word there small business which these guys aren't.

Understand you have people here as vendors working out of their home garage not a company shop with this said sooner or later there's going to be problems trust me on that.

Requirement to be a vendor should be in my opinion a working website, a real business location with full contact info you know phone number and email address. Oh and they should have been in business for atleast a year so there's some business feedback on the internet to look at.

I think @TRD-X is saying we should hold "vendors" to a higher standard and requirements to reduce the risk of stuff like this happening. Not that people with real businesses aren't shady either :\

I don't disagree, but they have to PROVE on here that they don't meet that standard.

Another example of a new vendor soon (I'm guessing based on the threads on FRS300's car) could be @jamesm. Should we not allow him to be a vendor because he's decided on a new path in life? A year+ business requirement would mean that he couldn't be a vendor. What if he's a great guy and provides outstanding customer service. Doesn't matter because he hasn't been around for a year? @FT-86 SpeedFactory gets great reviews and I've personally had good experiences with them. Based on the name alone I suspect they are new but maybe that have a shop with a different name, etc. Should we ban them too just because they weren't around for a year prior to being a vendor?

The point of his post was that we should be responsible for screening vendors somehow. Is a city responsible for screening retailers who do business there? Only as far as rules/regulations/zoning/etc are concerned, they can't control the business practices of those retailers and neither can we.

We have to judge vendors based on what they do on these forums. That is why Visconti, 86_zn6/industries and FA20Club are all banned. We aren't fortune tellers who can determine which vendors will suck.

At the end of the day it's buyer beware. Do your research and if you feel someone may be shady, don't buy from them. That's always worked out for me. And if you want the garage shops to go away stop bugging every vendor to beat every price. Real shops can't get by on 1% margins but the guy in his basement drop shipping parts can. Those guys tend to be the same ones that can't grow with demand, but are always willing to make $1 profit just to get a sale. As an example I could have gotten something from a vendor on here for a fair amount less than another vendor here, I did my research and found some smoke, so I paid the extra. Got my stuff quickly as promised, with tracking numbers and a free trinket inside.

It sucks that everyone in here has had bad experiences with JR. I bought 2 things from him, and one was shipped out in a timely manner (smoked sides) for a fair price, and I picked up the other from him (Works axleback) in person and everything went super smooth. =/

*Phew*

Glad I didn't buy more stuff from them, would have been convenient since they're local. I got my Works Axle-Back from the 86 Fiesta -- noticed the exit-hole on the driver side looked like someone opened it up by bashing on it with a rock. It's definitely not properly cut-out. I was going to send a picture of it, but I'll probably be on his ignore list.

Sorry to hear fellow 86'er

Same here, bought fluids from him (motul) in two separate occasions and the sale went very smoothly and saved myself shipping fees by local pick-up. He is hit or miss I guess
