I know you mentioned audio on the OP, but with a 2k budget I would get an exhaust system and a tune.

I've never been a big horse power junkie. As long as I can do what I want in the twisties I'm happy. I'll likely add a CAI in the future once I see what GrimmSpeed is working on. I'm mostly an audio nut and want a good sounding system in a car that's fun to drive. It's also why I'm not stressing about 5lbs here and there like others are.

Because you don't HEAR much of a difference, at all. I sampled both before making my decision to go with the 3 way. I like the positioning of the mid on the dash as opposed to at my feet.

You do hear the difference if you tune them both to their potential. For him to go 3 way is gonna add a lot more to the price. I say this because an active tuned 2 way is gonna sound much better than a passived 3 way.

If he can budget in 7 chs of amp, sure... but then I would buy them in singles and get the 165XL, the HL70, and the HT25.

He is also paying for install, which is another cost factor of a 3way vs 2way.

That's cause I told it to Cruz in a PM a while back when I was first discussing the system. As it stands right now here's what I have on paper.

Alpine PDX-V9 ($750), RF P1000X5 ($699), or a Hertz HDP5 ($700)
Audison Bit10 ($400 used)
Hertz HSK165's ($450)
Sound Treatment ($300)

That puts me at around $1850 without a sub.

The guys on DIYMA really seem to love it and I had good luck with a PDX4-100 driving some Boston Pro Comp's in a Miata once. As for install I'm thinking ditch the spare, build a box, and mount the amp under the rear deck similar to what wheelhaus did the second time around. That or I could flush it into the floor but I really think the Hertz would be better in that capacity. I'd like to be as stealth as possible and retain as much of the trunk as I can.

Those amps can be had a lot cheaper online but i would also look at the ARC XDi805, JL XD700/5, JBL GT5EZ, and PPI Phantom 900.5. You might even be able to find a JL HD900/5 for around $700 if you look around on DIYMA.

I guess not lol

Go fast parts are great when you can use them. I just want my daily commute to be enjoyable

I have some BXT II, Ensolite, and some MLV arriving today (by five minutes). Dampening the doors will hold off on my 4-way active project. I'll just need to find the time to rip everything apart.

The PPI 900.5 was going to be my personal choice for most of my drivers, but it doesn't seem to be available yet. Is it being released in the next few weeks?
