Hit a mile stone for myself. I no longer fit in larges so now I gotta redo my wardrobe and buy mediums. Back down to a 32 waist as well!

Down 15 lbs to 160. Wasn’t even trying but I’m not complaining. I have noticed, each Wednesday when the trash goes out, we’ve only got one trash bag in the can. I think we’ve eliminated a lot of packaged food and snacks without realizing it. I’m 6’ tall.

Out of curiosity, do you think the rising food costs and supermarket inflation helped with that?

Lately, everything at the store seems to cost more, include less and has a bonus of being a poorer quality than usual. It has really caused myself to rethink some what I'm buying and stimulate better choices... at least until I hit the whiskey isle.

Nah at this point it is more like treasure hunting for rare shit that isn't much better than the cheaper versions.

I love how Gatorade went from 32oz bottles to 28, and Pringles cans are now shorter, ice cream containers got smaller, etc. etc., All same price. Certainly don't buy as many treats now.

^^yeah, shrinkflation sucks

even worse when they do it to stuff that has a standardized size (like canned goods for recipes) and then the can is just a bit too small, so you have to buy a second can and only use part of it.

Definitely, yes. I think we’ve also been trending this way since early 2020 when the pandemic began. We just started cooking at home more around that time, and I think we’re finally just used to it. Packaged snacks and chips and frozen food is a terrible waste of money, so yes, I think I’ve been subconsciously avoiding those when I shop. I spend about the same on 20 lbs of meat and vegetables as I do on like 3 lbs of frozen/packaged snacks.

Next week I take my "official" ACFT and then the week after I will begin training for the Bataan Memorial March. I'm still not sure if I want to do the honorary or just go for the full. Considering I historically hit a hard wall at around 12-14 miles, I think I will need to be very articulated with how I train for it. Of course I will be sporting the 35lbs (dry) ruck and will be purchasing my Garmond boots to break in so they will be ready, but that's just part of the puzzle.

As of last week I was officially 157lbs. For reference, this time last year I was tipping the scale at around 180lbs. So I'm feeling pretty good since BF% has gone down substantially but my muscle mass has steadily increased. I'm no longer trying to lose weight, just body fat. Guess I'll see how I do preparing to ruck 26 miles.

This threads been quiet for a while. I picked my gym habit back up about a 6 weeks ago, 3 days a week. I wasn't going to start until I was into my new place but my friend wanted to get going now. So it's 3:45am wakeup for me to be there by 5. Started out at 172lbs after thanksgiving. Goal is to drop about 10 by June and try to maintain that going forward.

Dropping 10lbs by June should be cake walk. That's actually underselling yourself if that's all you plan to lose by then. Even if it was purely bodyfat (and not weight), that should be pretty feasible.

It's all I really have to lose reasonably. I could push and get down to probably 155 but it would be tough and would take a lifestyle change. I probably haven't been that light since I was 16-17.
