It was in response to somebody's post about the speed academy video where they put face to face their jackson racing supercharged FRS against their bolt-on S2000 and the S2000 did much better than expected. Just wanted to bring up the point that peak numbers are not everything and thats probably why they expected the FRS to destroy the S2000 (because peak numbers speaking, it had like 50-60whp more with the same weight and better aero).

Nah, don't try that.lol I saw the same video. Keeping up in a roll race does not included being left behind two bus lengths at the end of 4th..haha Also they freely admit the gearing advantage of the S2k and that its milder suspension setup favored the 340 tread wear summer tires where as the FRS was too stiffly sprung for them which you should understand.

Not sure where all this is going with the SC FA20 vs F20C but gearing alone didnt make the FRS look bad, it's the gearing + a 9k redline that did the trick. If you can keep pulling in 2nd gear for another 10km/h when the other guy is forced to switch into 3rd that's a real advantage.
Having driven a JRSC FRS for the last couple years on track I can tell you I'd be much happier with a 8200rpm k24a2 making 250whp. At least I wouldn't overheat 4 laps deep and have an engine that feels worse than a stock FA20. Could an AP1 S2K keep pace? Likely as it still has more revs, better gearing, and better suspension characteristics but it would be fun to duke it out. Maybe I can figure out how to mount my rotrex in this swap and still keep a/c, and that's where things could really start getting interesting around the 350whp range. Unfortunately the best track near by is an 800km round trip and a/c and reliability are paramount. Personally I'm torn on whether to do this swap now. I was pretty sure this was a good move because like others I'm already pretty deep in with SC, Kw clubsports, bbk, wheels, and trying to figure out a way to maximize my investment but a Cayman S is looking pretty appealing and it has a good chance of retaining some of its value over the next few years. Who knows maybe even increasing. One thing I'll note for anyone doing this swap who might want to compete in time attack or autocross at some point is check your local regulations carefully. Many of the classes prohibit cross manufacturer engine swaps and the classes that don't prohibit can put you in with much more capable chassis/cars no matter how much boost you throw at your twin. |

I’m borrowing this pic from another forum member. The engine is probably slightly tilted forward here, but it shows the room the K24 motor has for being moved back. When they said it moved back 4”, it looks possible:

Personally, it is cool to compete, but the experience should be the same. In a field of mixed racers finishing slower and faster, if you finished 10th overall that could be 1st in one class or last place in the next class, but in the end, the person was still 10th overall and still drove the car the same, so what does it matter? Prize money? Sponsorships?

Stock. I'm staying NA, unless I can manage to bolt in a Rotrex AND keep A/c. The other one in the pic is the automatic I pulled from the swap car. Shoulda started with a manual but I wanted a Whiteout FRS like my previous one. |

I'm not too far from Humble so I may be using them to tune my setup including dyno time.

I’m trying to figure out how to pin or wire in other sensors that aren’t in our harness. I have a boost solenoid and flex fuel sensor. You would think there would be a tutorial or video somewhere on the internet, but I haven’t found anything. There will be a wiring diagram, but it would be nice to have a visual than just a schematic.
On the boost solenoid, the solenoid can be set up to bleed off boost pressure from opening the diaphragm until target boost is reached, or it can be set up to pressurize the top of the wastegate to resist the diaphragm from opening until target boost is reached. Seems like wiring could be different or maybe wiring could be the same, but the software runs the solenoid differently based on the setup parameters. I don’t know.
