Ya know... there is a pizza diet lol. My biggest thing is bread, and lack of sleep.

Interesting, I just bought another bottle at Costco not too long ago , so I guess it will go to my dad since he's also into those things. This is exactly the type of feedback I was expecting from this thread. Thanks!

Pizza just ruins my self control. The reason I relapsed is because I had pizza on my birthday at the end of may! So I still have to work on my mind

Hmm I'd say every person is different. I eat red meat like 5 times a week (after being a vegetarian for 5 years - thank god that's done) and can drink 2-3 times a week and feel great. Actually you need to drink moderately. People with the worst outcomes are usually non-drinkers and alcoholics. The healthiest people are the ones who DO drink but do so in moderation. Oily fish for dinner messes up my sleep (ditto with fish oil) and Avocados mess up my stomach and give me greasy poops (TMI sorry) cause they're so fatty. Definitely stay away from tofu and soy milk.

Oh I've never done it. I got the list from Alton Brown. He did lose a lot of weight. I do believe the "don't eat anything with diet in its name", and no soda, even the zero calorie ones.

I think it's most important to follow your ancestral "menu". I'm from the middle east and we basically just ate endless meat, fruits and veggies and occasional bread. So I came to Canada and decided to change up my diet and try vegetarianism. Lab results went south, cholesterol went up (counter-intuitively) and iron/hemoglobin went down. Ever since I'm back on meat, I feel so much better and my bloodwork shows it.

I'll jump in.
37, 5'3", 182lbs Used to be extremely active. Up at 4am, gym at 5am 4-5 times a week. Mountain bike or hiked couple times a month. My gym partner had a kid and stopped working out. I spent a large part of last year remodeling a house to sell. Since then I have only been able to work out in short spurts and I loose motivation. Goal is 165lb. Back to working out 4 to 5 times a week and eating cleaner. Stretching in the evening and mornings. No more takeout or shortcut meals.

Yea, I'd say. There is nothing really sound with that list other than it cuts down on calories and some "bad stuff". The good stuff side though looks like it's just the list the author likes to eat when he can't eat anything else.
Tofu and soy milk are examples of that. The jury seems to still be out whether it really is healthy. MomHawk had to cut it out of her diet after several bad episodes from eating just a small amount of it. Oily fish, yea sure, if you can tolerate eating that type of fish (no thanks).

Make sure you're getting your vitamin D as well. Not sure how old you are but if you're of northern european descent, and living in North America, and not supplementing - you're most likely deficient and one of the side effects is endless joint and muscle aches.

I did low carb paleo for a few years - dropped from 215ish to 165ish in 6 months, sustained at 175lbs for 3 years then fell off the wagon. I’m now 195 and it’s almost exclusively because of grains, mostly rice but when I get into the gluten everything goes to shit… mental fog, lethargy, focus etc. If I exclude all grains, except rice, I don’t experience the negative side effects beyond fatness. If I exclude all grains entirely, the weight comes off pretty fast.
I avoid all things soy for a host of reasons, even switched soy sauce to coconut aminos which I enjoy more.
