Any headrests from other cars fit our OEM seats?

Got a crazy question... does any other headrests (from other cars like STi, Tacoma etc) fit our OEM seats? I dislike how the OEM headrests are so angled forward. It pushes my head to an uncomfortable position when wearing a helmet.

The common thing to do is just flip the headrest backwards. It then points towards the back seat and allows more room for a helmet. (or a cowboy hat, if you are like me)

@iLuveKetchup They were designed specifically for this (flipping around when wearing a helmet).

No.

It's effectively like not having a headrest at all when turned around. I do it during autox and run the risk of snapping my neck. But it's a higher risk at the track and leave the headrest in the standard position.

My headrest turned around at autox...

Ok... Well, IMO, if you were looking at retrofitting another cars headrest, then my suggestion was in alignment with your out-side-the-box thinking.

If you are that concerned about safety, buy a fixed seat and a neck brace.

I highly doubt this is something anybody has tried. Measure the distance between the posts and head to the local auto wreckers and see what may work. Don't know that anything will improve the angle though since each is designed very specifically for the seats they are installed on. Can't say I have ever noticed these pushing my head forward though.

Well, I guess designed for, and effectively working are two different things. I've never driven the car with a helmet so I bow to your better knowledge.

BTW, by chance rising headrest as much as possible, won't net by chance more clearance? Depending on where helmet touched headrest before of course.

Unless I've missed it, I've never seen any documentation that Toyota/Subaru designed the headrest to be turned around. It was just something people do.

It would help some. But it still feels restrictive.

I feel dumb not trying or thinking about doing this until I created the initial post and wrote "Tacoma". I went out for lunch and tried the OEM headrest from my FJ. It fits! I'd only use this when on track. I actually like the support of the FR-S headrests on the street.

It's probably anecdotal rather than formal documentation. I do recall it being mentioned at the First86 Long Beach event along with the "designed to fit four tires in the trunk" thing which also is not documented anywhere official I don't believe.
