How long to wait after installing headers to flash OFT stage 2?
Hi
I'm installing carless UEL headers on my BRZ now. I had OFT Stage 1 flashed for about a week. Can I flash Stage 2+ tune right after installing the headers or should I wait a bit? |

You can, and should, flash immediately.

I had mine tuned 5000km after going full decat exhaust.
Not tuning your NA car will not be a issue, without a tune a header and full exhaust is worth maybe 5kw up top, maybe, with a good tune there is another 30kw available.

Depends on what gaskets you use really.
I've never re-torqued, I only use quality steel gaskets on a head though. I've never had an exhaust leak.

Flash er up. After you flash, be sure to let it idle for a couple minutes. Then drive around for 10-20 miles under 4kish for a bit. Avoid wot and just let the ecu relearn all the parameters before you go do some hard driving. You should feel the car slowly get smoother after a bit. And yes, definitely go back to make sure everything is torqued correctly. A friend helped me with mine and when I went to go re-tighten everything, the bolts he did were pretty loose lol. Like cmon. Friends don't let friends have exhuast leaks.

I kept my OEM gaskets on the car. They only had 15,000km on them and looked mint. |

Easiest way is to check all connections right after a cold startup on a cold morning. Look for steam/leak at manifolds and all exhaust seams. Leave it on jackstands overnight so you can scoot under car right after you start it. You can even feel (obviously dont touch, more of get your hands close to the joints) the seams with your hands for a couple minutes before it gets too hot. Stay clear of belts/pulleys/fan. |
