How's the intake growl with the intake ducts (hks, greddy, legsport)?

Considering getting one of the three to replace my Perrin Cai. Just curious if anyone else has had both a Cai and an intake duct. Could you comment on thr intake noise? I like the Perrin growl, it's very mechanical but will be switching intakes to accommodate a tune and also to help stay carb legal.

It definitely is louder/growlier then when I had the stock duct. I have the noise generator deleted and the intake noise is nice with the duct on there now. When the stock duct was on there with the CAI it literally sounded stock.

I have the TRD intake and the HKS duct.

Ended up getting the HKS version just due to the fact that I did not want to cut up the foam bumper support with the Greddy or Legsport versions.

I wasn't expecting any performance gains and I didn't get any lol. The sound isn't that noticeable, there's definitely no growl (spoiled by the Perrin CAI's growl maybe?) that I can hear. It does sound slightly more toned out and refined compared to stock.

Would I buy it again? Nope.

Just modify the stock snorkel if you want more growl.

I considered it but couldn't find any sound clips from the threads I read on modifying the stock snorkel.

The growl I was hoping to get is here:[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGl8_X5Xx9Y"]GT86 Intake Sound - onboard - YouTube[/ame]
However this guy also removed the resonators. I have similar parts (Perrin inlet hose and AEM Dry air filter). I've thought about removing the one attached to the airbox (in the engine bay behind the radiator fans), but have read that that will mess with the AFR. Since it's something that's riveted to the airbox, it won't be that easy to reattach if I wante dto test it out.

I modified my snorkel, it sounds just like that.

I wonder how much your TRD intake plays into this, @Summerwolf has the TRD also and mentions it's growlier as well.

It is a little growlier, but if you run an intake pipe without resonators plus the modified snorkel you get the same result.

Modding the snorkel is free though, try that first no reason not to.

I have a hks duct and cusco snorkel and don't have any growl like sounds. It you want sounds and gains maybe it's better to stick with your perrin

I'm too lazy to take off the bumper again but will keep the HKS for another year, at least get some use out of it lol. Will modify the snorkel though if I go back to the stock one. I'm pretty sure I'll ignore the lack of growl when I install my Ace header :P

I do miss it (sold it already) but the tuner i'm going with recommended not to keep the Perrin CAI due to heatsoak (being aluminum and all). Although had I had both in possession before deciding, I would've reinstalled the Perrin CAI but now it's gone :/

I had the stock duct with the TRD intake and it sounded stock. Change to hks duct and it has a definite intake "growl" noise.

Sound is subjective though.... i will say I didnt see much of a performance gain but it looked cool with the bumper off, lol.
