Yeah that’s what I was referring to, and thanks for the tip on the JDM part! I haven’t noticed the front bumper sagging on my FR-S but it’s good to keep in mind. Japan really does get all the best stuff. Rewiring for the 17+ headlights would be nerve wracking.

Ha, I saw this same one last year at Daikoku Parking Area in Yokohama:

It looked... off to me, but that's only because I'm used to what we have already.

I think at face (pun intended) value it's not so bad in person, and totally works more for someone who prefers the rounded-faces of some kei-cars in Japan, in the same vein as Miatas or Cappuccinos.

I think USDM is still a lot more into sharper lines, to some detriment, which is partially why it would've never been popular enough to produce and sell here for an already niche car.

Edit:

Also, if you've ever seen a Toyota 2000GT (which our car is somewhat aesthetically based on) the CB bumper IMO makes the front bumper resemble the 2000GT even more.

Didn’t you try to source that bumper back when it came out? Wasn’t avaible for sale or was some outrageous price wasn’t it?

I did, no luck, and never heard back from the importer. AFAIK, there are none of these front ends in the US. If somebody knows otherwise, please say so.

Edit: Bet somebody posts a link, and I have to say "thanks for nothing, COVID."

It does give our car a 2000GT vibe, which I think is very cool. It’s not for me, but I like to see anyone investing in the FR-S/86/BRZ.
I agree I don’t think this would have done well in the States. For some reason it also makes me think of the Fiat Spider front.

Don’t forget “thanks Obama!” or maybe now “thanks Trump!”

This must be one of those VIN-locked JDM pieces.

When I went to the GR Garage in February I was chatting with a nice salesman about parts on the GRMN 86 car. Even the nice GR recaros. I only had the ability to purchase certain pieces. Like if I wanted the rear fender extensions (similar but different from the TRD ones) I could surprisingly order those. But stuff like the Recaro and other pieces were basically off-limits as far as I understood unless I own that car.

I’m sure it’s the same story for the 14R-60 kits. I’d love the front fenders and maybe even bumper from that one but it’s the same thing. I think you can only import those if they come from parted out cars in Japan.

Well I sort of covered that in post 4. Not my words though it was promoted as a car built for women. So it technically is actually meant to be a chick car.

"Chick car" was most of the opinion here, not seeing much of that this time around.

You couldn't snag the parts from Toyota. The only way to get them is off a wrecked car which is near impossible as they don't seem to make their way onto YJA. There has been 2 front clip cuts (they sawzall the car in half) for sale but, bidding was limited to inside Japan only.

There is a handful of CB's for sale that are importable but, it doesn't make since money wise.

Also it seems like Japan BRZ forums (clubrz.jp) are dead and now it's a porn site... so can't see if any are for sale their either... :/
