Glad I could keep you busy! I guess I just don't know my own strength. That sounds like a fast S2000....do you really want to lose out on winning tires though?

I think the issue was actually the end of the bolt was hitting the other clamp on the wastegate. I had to reposition the clamp when I put the new bolt in. Gotta have 5 in class to win tires. You have lost your fast, so I am not worried.

are you still running the OEM gear-type diff? If so have you ever had any issue or heard people having issues with them at track?

now the BRZ is gone and I don't want to miss this season, I am kinda torn between the S2000 and Evo X and want to get something that requires minimal mods for track use -until I can get a GT350R without being ripped off (possibly in a couple years)

It is funny because lots of guys go with upgrade modifications to their diffs in the S2000, but I think the AP2 2004+ diffs are pretty solid. All I did to mine was throw in some Motul fluid, and it worked just fine at the track even with turbo power. With that being said I would love to eventually upgrade the diff, but it isn't mandatory and isn't high on the list currently. I would personally recommend a square set of 17x9s and some sticky tires, sway bars to fix the oversteer issue created by the square setup, and a BBK for the front with track pads front and rear. The BBK will limit some wheel options, but the biggest issue the S2000 has is overheating/overpowering the OEM brakes.

The GT350R is definitely on my want list, but I will also be waiting till I can get one for a good deal. It is only a Mustang after all, but I think I would rather save the money and get the Z/28.

yes, I also consider 17x9 with 245/40/17 to avoid rubbing and something that clears Stoptech ST40s it seems like the only 17x9 wheels that clear them are Wedsport or Volk (I'd possibly go with TC105n since they're cheaper).. I am about to finish the deal on a 2006 S2K, and my first mods will be something like:

17x9 wheels with 245/40/17 tires (either RE71Rs or something equivalent)
Stoptech ST40s
Mugen Roll bar w/ Schroth Profi 3 harnesses
and some HFC cats

I'll see how it goes

speaking of Z28, GT350R is just in whole another league and the new Camaro has to bring something really solid to the table to compete against it

$15-20k mark up on those cars is ridiculous of course

My 17x9 Weds will be for sale this month if you want em. I would add a Hondata FlashPro and a Gernby tune to that list. Good call on the Stoptech ST40, I have been really happy with my Trophy kit and the wear on my PFC08s. I have no doubt that a new generation Camaro Z/28 will walk the dog on the GT350R. The new lighter weight chassis with some more weight removed and a more powerful LT motor should do the trick. I have wanted a Z/28 since high school, and I still think the 2015 is the one I will own. I mean 505 hp LS7 7.0L V8 with dry sump oiling, carbon ceramic brakes, and a square 305 set of Pirellis for $55k brand new is just amazing to me. Just wish it weighed 3000 lbs, haha.

PM'd about the wheels.

Did you take your car to dyno before and after the tune? Are you happy with the tune in general? My friend has been running Stoptech BBKs for a while in his Z28 conversion Camaro 1LE at the track with Raybestos ST47s with great success (he also used ST60s have them in his C6 Z06) and I am pretty sure I will be happy with them too. I don't have any past experience with Porterfield's own pads but people seem to be happy with them, I will most likely, continue using ST47/ST45s as Raybestos never let me down.

Speaking of Z28, my friend recently sent me a link of z new Z28 listed for $52k, if I had the funds I'd be all over that deal now and sell the Carbon ceramics for $4-5k to make it less than $50k

I also agree with you on the new Camaro's Alpha platform, the new Camaro SS, even without the special track version, can keep up with the previous gen 1LE, thanks to the MagneRide and the lighter/stiffer new platform and the LT1 engine with torque advantage.
With that said, the new GT350R is the only Ford I ever cared for, fast blipping, high revving engine that matched with lighter Tremec 3160 transmission (vs the heavy Tremec 6060 in the Z28s ) is something you cannot get in GM cars. Track variant of the new Camaro (possibly a 1LE) might be helluva deal though, time will tell

I tuned my own car, remember I am turbocharged. Gernby's tunes seem to be really good on NA cars. I asked him about tuning mine, but he isn't interested in tuning forced induction cars. He sends you like 6 maps to flash and you datalog each and then send him the datalogs and he sends you an optimized tune. Regardless of who tunes it, there are definite gains to be had and Hondata FlashPro is the reason to buy a 2006+ model.

I think those $52k deals are gone now that Chevy's Black Friday 20% off MSRP deal is over. I would keep the carbon ceramics on it though.

"another one bites the dust"

2006 S200,0 82k Miles, 3 owners (technically two owners the last owner only had the car for about 6 months), clean carfax, paid $16,5k ..about $3-4k less than what the local dealerships around Seattle area and some of them even had accidents in their accidents reports so I had to drive down to Portland to meet with the seller

it was really hard to find an unmolested S2000 with that kind of mileage, condition for the price so I think I did good, overall..

I definitely have to find a way to lower the seat, though either lower seat rails or and aftermarket seat like Bride Vios III low max ( or combination of both) since my laps slightly touches the steering wheel, then the wheels/tires, HFC pipe, and after BBK, Ohlins and Mugen Roll bar..etc

That's a great price for the miles and relatively stock and is that a tube on Shin Etsu grease I see? I paid $17,000 for my 2006 Laguna Blue with 105,000 miles which was probably too much at the time, but there weren't many Laguna Blues to pick from and they hold a little bit of a premium. Welcome to the club.

Thanks to be honest, I have no clue what that grease is for, I've included the pictures that seller posted ..I really like the blue also but I think they're relatively harder to find as you mentioned

It is probably Shin Etsu grease which is normally used on all the rubber seals for the soft top or hard top. It is more popular for the hard tops as they have more rubber seals that tend to squeak, so my guess is one of the previous owners had an OEM hard top on it at some point.
