19" Rays 57Xtreme / Achilles ATR Sport 2 Tires
19" Rays 57Xtreme (8.5/9.5) / Achilles ATR Sport 2 Tires (245-35-19/275-30-19)
Purchased and Installed at: AutoPlus When I installed these rims and tires, the height increased by about 2 inches which was too high for my liking. It definitely needs a drop. However, for some reason the ride comfort became smoother One thing to note as well is that the grip of the Achilles tires are amazing! The grip level would probably be close to the more expensive high-performance tires at an affordable price. The Rays Center Caps were not included, so I needed to order them separately which took about a month to arrive. Last edited by jvargasj88; 05-07-2014 at 10:57 PM. |

Tein H-Tech Lowering Springs
Since I was advised that if I go lower than 1.2 inch, my OEM shocks may have a tendency to break. Therefore, I decided to go with Tein High-Tech Lowering Springs since it was advertised to drop the car by an inch in the front and 0.6 inch in the rear with great ride comfort using OEM shocks. A few people have also recommended it to me as they haven't experienced any problems with it so far.
Tein H-Tech Lowering Springs Purchased and Installed at: Autokozmetix The ride height became better, however it was still a bit too high for me. In terms of ride comfort, it was pretty much close to stock but became a bit more bouncy. Last edited by jvargasj88; 05-07-2014 at 11:43 AM. |

Dynamics Performance Engineering Coilovers
So after 300-400km of driving with the H-Tech springs, my rear right shocks blew Since I wanted to drop the car even more but had a budget constraint, I purchased Dynamics Coilovers (which many say are comparable to the BC Coilovers).
Dynamics Performance Engineering Coilovers Purchased and Installed at: Autokozmetix With these coilovers, cornering improved greatly compared to the OEM or lowering springs. My only problem was the ride comfort. With the kind of roads we have in Manila, it feels like you are going through a war zone every time I take it out (even when the dampening setting was set to full soft for both the front and the rear), which bothered me a lot There are also some noise coming from the coilovers when passing through uneven roads, but its not that loud. The stance looked great once installed though: Last edited by jvargasj88; 05-07-2014 at 01:26 PM. |

TRD Body Kit / TRD Rear Diffuser Set / TRD High Response Muffler (Ver.R)
It took a week to order and paint the TRD kit. They also had to keep my front tow hook cover in order to ensure that when they mix the paint it would exactly match the color of my car. Here are some pictures during the installation:
TRD Front Spoiler Purchased and Installed at: Toyota Global City TRD Side Skirt Purchased and Installed at: Toyota Global City In order for the rear skirt and exhaust to fit, they needed take apart the rear bumbler and cut a portion of it ouch! TRD Rear Under Spoiler Purchased and Installed at: Toyota Global City TRD Rear Diffuser Set Purchased: TRD Global City Installed: Autokozmetix As described by TRD, the Rear Diffuser is used to "effectively draw air from under the vehicle towards the rear to control the lift generated by high speeds, while improving straight line stability by using its four fins to control air flow." TRD High Response Muffler (Ver.R) Purchased and Installed at: Autokozmetix The exhaust sounded great, it was just a bit louder than stock which was perfect since I was afraid that it would be too loud. ST Coilovers by KW
I decided to upgrade my suspension since I couldn't stand the ride of the Dynamics coilovers anymore, it was too harsh. I initially wanted the KW V3 Coilovers since they have a reputation of having the best ride comfort, however it was too expensive. ST Coilovers, on the other hand, are made by KW and has the same spring rate (of all 3 variants) with half the price. It is exactly the same as the KW V1 but just uses a different material (KW V1 is 100% rust free, hence it would be safe to use during winter- not like it would matter here since it never snows). Like the KW V1, it is height adjustable and dampening is preset to balance sportiness, comfort, and safety which is alright since I never had the need to change the dampening settings anyway as i don't track my car. Here are some pictures during the installation:
ST Coilovers Purchased and Installed at: Autokozmetix You would need to use your OEM top hat for the installation. The ride comfort is great, it is still a bit harsh on some roads but given the road condition here in Manila its significantly better than my old suspension setup. I wouldn't say its better than stock in terms of comfort, but I think it is pretty close. I've also got 19" rims on so that would also take into account. Regardless, it takes bumps really well and suited for daily driving. With my Dynamics coilovers, it was difficult to go fast on uneven roads, however with the ST the car became easier to control. I also haven't heard any noise so far. These are a great set of coilovers! Last edited by jvargasj88; 05-07-2014 at 12:57 PM. |

TRD Front Strut Tower Bar
Purchased from: 86/BRZ Club Philippines Member The TRD Strut Bar is made of carbon fiber so it was pretty light-weight. The instruction manual was faded so I just downloaded a copy online, which didn't really help since it was in japanese. The installation was quick, it just took less than 10 minutes to finish. The strut bar is supposed to increase body rigidity and corner performance by "controlling flex in the upper part of the suspension tower". However, I didn't really notice any difference. You would probably see the improvement more on the track. Last edited by jvargasj88; 05-24-2014 at 07:28 AM. |
