Opinions

Hey guys, just wanted to know your guy's opinion. I'm new to the car scene, I've just recently gotten into cars, I want to know your guys opinion on 86/BRZ/FRS drivers driving automatic. I know it shouldn't matter cause it's your car and you drive it and it's basically like your baby, but I just wanted to hear some opinions on this type of thing.

This whole Forum tackles and addresses (in some instances) the areas that you wish to be explained..

BTW, I have a MT and that's the only way to go...

unless you absolutely can not find a manual or have some sort of handicap that will not allow you to drive a manual you should get a manual. The auto in this car is really good, but it will never be the same experience.

OH these threads are always fun!
At least this is in the Hawaii sub so it won't get a lot of traffic.

I don't think someone driving an automatic BRZ/86/FRS is any different from any other automobile. It's a choice.

After getting my first manual car, I got an automatic car as a secondary "cruiser". I never wanted to drive it, I enjoyed standard too much and hold it.

I did the same thing later in life and had the same result. Once you can drive standard, you will prefer it unequivocally. This is why there is such a debate, but there doesn't need to be one; automatic is fine, it's just boring if you know how to drive standard.

If you get a car in automatic thinking "I'll learn standard on a junker!" You will regret buying the automatic and inevitably sell your automatic car to buy the standard version. You would never sell your standard version to buy an automatic, I promise.

Do what you imagine you'll be comfortable with for at least 5 years. If you have notions that you "plan to" learn standard within 5 years, get the standard.

One thing you would want to consider is the fact that we live in Hawaii and you already know the kind of crappy traffic we have. If constant engagement of the car isn't something you would be okay with in those situations, maybe take a looko at AT, they aren't no slouches either.

People who drive automatic transmission have lower cognitive ability when compared to manual transmission. They proved it in court. Still waiting for the verdict in the Supreme Court though, because it was appealed. Just kidding man, plenty of beautiful people out there, some are violinsts in a symphony orchestra, some college physics professors, some drive manual, some dont. Nobodys right or wrong. If you are even aware enough of sport car driving to ask a question like this, u sound like a manual driver.

After getting my AT 86, I realized how boring it is and wanted to try MT. My brother taught me a bit on his hardbody nissan and I fell in love with it, I just gotta gain more confidence hah...

Nah, I just learned AT when I first started driving and then I kind of leaned into the whole MT and car community thing and I'm just in a whole new perspective of cars. One day I'll get a MT 86/FRS/BRZ though, but some people in Hawaii know that traffic eats ass so, yeah haha

Yeah I understand you bro, traffic here does suck, I just lack the confidence in driving MT, but for now I'll enjoy my AT
