Mine is modded and I drive it to work about 50% of the time.

I've done a EuroCompulsion v2 intake and phase 2 ECU swap with mine. Had a C6 Z06 owning autocross friend of mine take the car out for a few runs and his only feedback was "shit... this is fast."

I've also added front wishbone mounts from Alfaworks in the UK to alter caster in front to reduce the jumping/twitchiness on uneven roads and allow for more negative camber in front. Novitec coilovers, and 17x8.5 front / 18x9.5 rear Advan RS2s with 245/265 wide tires. The wider and sticky front tires add to the steering feel noticeably, I had the OEM 18x7s on for a week and forgot how light the feel was with the OEM narrow wheels.

I like what you've done. Just enjoying the car as is for now, but in time .....looking forward to a few mods.

2020 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider Gets a 33 Stradale-Inspired Special Edition

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a3...20sports%20car.

Quote:
Limited to 33 cars for North America, the special-edition car is a send-off for the 4C Spider, finished in a new Rosso Villa d’Este (red) with gold wheels.
  • Alfa Romeo is sending off the 4C Spider with a special-edition 33 Stradale Tributo model that honors the 1967 33 Stradale mid-engine sports car.
  • The 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo is finished in a new, exclusive Rosso Villa d'Este (red) with carbon-fiber trim, gold wheels, and a black and brown interior.
  • They're limited to 33 examples in North America and will cost $81,590 when they arrive in February.

Alfa Romeo has discontinued the 4C coupe, and soon the 4C Spider is going to say goodbye, too. Alfa is sending off the little rear-wheel-drive targa with a special-edition model that honors the 1967 33 Stradale mid-engine sports car. Production is limited to 33 cars bound for North America, and they're finished in an exclusive red with gold wheels.

The unique exterior color is called Rosso Villa d'Este, a new color specifically reserved for the 33 Stradale Tributo. Alfa Rosso and Rosso Competizione are the other red exterior color options available on the standard 4C Spider. The special red looks great paired with the gold five-hole wheels and the black suede and tobacco leather interior. It also comes standard with carbon-fiber trim and Italian flag mirror caps. And it wouldn't be a limited-edition model without plaques on the dash, doorsills, and center console.

A 237-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine powers the 2020 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, and it sends power to the rear wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. During Car and Driver testing, a 2015 model launched to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds on its way to a 12.8-second quarter-mile at 107 mph. In 1968, an Alfa Romeo 33 coupe reached 60 mph in 6.0 seconds in our testing. The 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo comes with an Akrapovic dual-mode center-mounted exhaust and a race-tuned suspension.

The 2020 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo will arrive in the U.S. in February, priced starting at $81,590. The special-edition cars come with a matching, numbered book that highlights the 4C's design, technology, materials, the Modena factory, and the history of the 33 Stradale.

It was forever off my list because it lacked a manual, but it is a great car. Wish they made the Quadrifoglio in manual. I would have been hunting the used car ads forever until it would have been mine.

I was the same way about the QV until I test drove one. Now I've grown rather attached to being able to shift with the paddles when I have an open road, but throw it back into auto (and use adaptive cruise) when stuck behind some yutz who gains 10 mph downhill and loses 15 uphill.

Trust me, you won't miss the third pedal.

My last three cars were manual and when I got the 4C, I wondered if I made a mistake... but the car has so much sensory overload that a manual would make it a handful when driven hard.

Even with a zero toe alignment and suspension tweaks to eliminate the darty tramline-y caster from the factory, the manual steering rack is constantly keeping you engaged -- You need both hands on the wheel. A Lotus Elige doesn't do this for some reason and pairs beautifully with a manual.

Going manual would also be much slower and not achieve the 0-60 numbers (4.1 stock / mine is sub-4s) because the TCT holds the boost between shifts with the aggressive short gearing. The way the boost comes on feels old-school supercar too, there's nothing and all the sudden the surge happens.

Auto mode with the TCT in slow / stop-and-go traffic is worse than a kid learning manual for the first time. This dry double clutch transmission is no PDK, that's for sure, but perfectly matches how imperfect the 4C is. All part of the charm.

How has the reliability then? Also due to the carbon tub this thing must be expensive to insure

I'm at 60k miles and it still works.

I've spent a total of $162 on parts to fix issues outside of routine items (tires, alignments, oil changes).
Honestly the car is mechanically simple and easy to DIY (body panels come off like a race car, engine components easy to access).
The only questionable part / weakest link is the transmission.

Cheaper to insure than my BRZ, and if I behave, I get better MPG than my Honda Fit.

Everyone should drive a 4C at least once.

My Risotto Rocket. 🍿 + 🔥
