How low can we go?

Ok this is for the aussies down under, i know the legal height limit in QLD is 100mm off the ground. BUT i have a front lip and skirts on the car, would i measure from the front lip ? or the lowest point under the car excluding the body kit? cant find much about it except it saying to be 100mm off the ground from the lowest point :/
Thanks if anyone has experienced this or been busted for this ridiculous thing.

In Vic you have to be able to clear a 100mm block. Pretty simple. Don't clear it and you have to raise your car with good reason. In Vic there are idiots who would drive on bump stops, making their cars death traps for themselves and other road users, if they could. Dropping the car does NOT automatically result in better handling, and drop the car more than 50mm(2") without serious suspension mods and you'll wear out CV joints on the rear axles very quickly.

well that sucks then cause ill only be able to drop 10mm once my front lip is on stock height. Not worth it unless i want to be pulled over.
But its tempting as work is like 5 minutes away and tbh itll look good sitting there?? but ill have to wait till im 25 cause insurance wont let me mod the car if i have one modification already done to the car (exhaust) unless you know of another insurance company that will insure for under 25 modded car
thanks

Try Famous Ins. Lot of 86 owners now use them and they’re Ok with mods and tracking. You’re age could be the deal breaker...

Unfortunately how a car looks doesn’t hold much water with cops, who probably don’t give a shit. It’s the VicRoads and EPA check points popping up who’ll put your car off the road in a blink of an eye.

Mine is dropped 20mm and handles sweet.

No way in hell I would fit a lip to this car.

I've had lips on other cars, lips might look good but unless you are only driving on flat roads they suck.

My lip on my standard height 15 STI lasted about 3 months before it was taken out going up a driveway.

In the end lips are for looks only, if your happy with that then go for it.

Did you have the rear axle setup I saw some where that lowers the car body but maintains the axle line at a proper angle reducing excessive stress and wear on the moving parts?

Yeah, the subframe/diff risers..
many motorkhana's and no broken axles here!

I am a big believer in doing supporting mods to make sure everything works how it should.

So, I’m keen to get a set of coilovers, but a quick measure shows the lowest point of the car as about 20mm away from the 100mm minimum at standard height. So to stay legal, I could only lower 20mm. Is this what others have found also? Seems like I may as well just get some lowering springs if I can go much lower anyway...
