OK so last weekend, I crashed my G35 beater into a Volvo that suddenly pulled out from a parking spot on the side of the road...but I only need a daily driver for about 3 more months (I could just Uber, walk, and get stuff delivered too...it would just be a hassle).

What do you guys think I should do?
A. Uber/delivery (I would probably use up about 120/week doing this, and my freedom would be kind of limited)
B. Buy a high mileage beater: In Reno, I see lots of people selling Subarus that they claim to have rebuilt the engines for and they claim work perfectly...I have no idea if it's realistic for a 200k mile 20 year old Subaru to "run perfectly"
C. Try to push the only car-friend I have with extra cars to loan me his really (and I mean REALLY) shitty car.

consider buying something that just needs a really good detail job-- should be able to clean it up at the end of 3 months and walk away with 500-1k over what you paid for it..

The problem is you then have to sell it, and there's no telling how car prices will be in 3 months.

I would go with b or c. Beaters are nice to have anyway IMO.

The market ain't gonna change all that much by September. Chip shortages are expected through next year. So new car sales will be in the hole at least into the busy summer season of next year at best.

A "beater" doesn't have to be high mileage, but regardless that's the option I would go with because, as others have said, you can resell it when done. Even if you lose a few dollars on the flip (which is unlikely) you'll spend more on Uber/delivery.

I'm assuming here you have the cash for a beater.

+1 You know the drill. Make sure it's stone cold when the seller hands you the keys. Listen carefully.

Hunters and gatherers were ok. It's the makers that ruined it.
