It would be easy to weed out the crappy technicians.

This recall on the rest of the Subaru's does not involve removing the front cover. So, the brz is on its own as far as these failures/issues.

I see you are in ND, did Muscatell do it? I know they had seen the posts about these issues.

For those choosing to DIY test, the port thread is 1/8" BSPT.

NPT does not fit.

With the engine at operating temp, 7.3 PSI at idle and 73 PSI at 6000 revs are your lower limits.

The sad thing is, this is how dummy lights work on most cars. You can’t claim you just didn’t know it worked this way on this car. This tech clearly is a moron. When this engine pops they will say, “sorry it’s on you for ignoring the oil light”.

I would avoid touching the oil pan, just to keep everything "as is" from repair if you have issues. The oil pressure test would be the best course of action if wanting some piece of mind.

My car was just picked up by the tow company. He said the last one he towed was after the mechanic was taking it for a test drive and it caught on fire. This is in Richland Hills, Texas. Toyota of America was on their way so they are well aware.

Good afternoon
I am so thankful for this forum. The knowledge base is so helpful.
My daughter lives in Atlanta, took her car to Hendrick Toyota Sandy Springs on Saturday. Just an oil change with supplied oil (Eneos Sustina 0w20) .
They lost the oil filter (Filtermag) magnet, $70
The service representative, Bryan Tello, attempted to convince my daughter to do the TSB. I spoke with him and explained my concerns. No clue. I don't think he believed me.
I spoke to him today, sent him 3 links (TSB failure links) , and requested a search for the filtermag. He apologized. Weak "I'm Sorry". Didn't say anything about the links.

To all who posted, thanks for the heads up

That's where I got my car done, I worked with Alex. So far my car is fine, but I am still less than 300 miles from having the work done.

Cool so this is the second fire (success story) posted. Safety (offloading liability) is the number one concern with this recall.

Sorry to hear about your car. To me your video doesn’t sound anything like rod knock. Maybe they shuffled your valve shims or something.
