Exactly the reasons I am not driving one today! I was on the fence for a long time but it was a pile of money for me to throw away after 5 years and the fuel economy would have been nasty for the amount I drive.

I can't force you to go back and read the thread carefully.

I will continue to make my point as long as I have the desire to correct others' misinterpretation and misrepresentation of my intended advice. You have done just that by asking me the above and then telling me to shut up about it.

Once again specifically for you now, if OP is MT-curious enough to start a thread about it here, I maintain he should either go for it or continue wondering. And yes, maybe he'll regret having bought the MT but he will have satisfied his curiosity and he will never regret having learned how to drive a stick even if he doesn't give a shit about it later.

Make sense, or would you like to argue some more? Sheesh.

It also needed to be able to stop on the way home and pick up groceries or make a small Sam's/Costco run. I also wanted to have something MomHawk and I could take on a couple's weekend or longer vacation.

The 86 fits that in spades. Very practical.
Well, yeah. There's that. I'm just being hyperbolic to emphasize the point of choosing a twin over a corolla.

I went with MT just because my other car is an AT and I wanted something different.

Keep in mind, this is my FIRST MT car and I am loving everything minute when I'm in it.

See that's the hypocrisy of you Manual elists have if your gonna attack the AT of the car please include the RC-F, IS-F and GS-F as well, anything without a clutch I don't care if it's PDK, DCT or whatever tech it is. It's an automatic period. So quit kidding yourself with the double standards already it's getting hilarious ya know.

This is basically why I went MT with my BRZ when probably 90% of people I know were saying "oh why would you get MT when AT is so much easier and normal?"

I was MT-curious enough.

I think AT sounds solid. Just browse this thread and the rest on this forum about it. Many people have enjoyed the AT and most who don't are people who prefer MT anyway (from what I've seen).

@ OP I say go for it and get the MT unless you have a solid reason for not wanting to learn it.

if you give me a R35, and FRS/BRZ, I will still choose FRS/BRZ,
This is how much passion I have for MT. ^_~

P.S I have a lot friends driving AT FRS/BRZ are regretting now, but they can't trade for a MT because they are still on finance.

I'm with you on this one. If the whole argument behind avoiding the AT is that you want to be more engaged by having a clutch, then logically it has to include any tech that removes the third pedal.

Of course, I have the (dis)advantage that when in manual mode I can can (and do on occasion) use the 3rd (dead) pedal as a clutch. Memory muscle is a terrible thing sometimes.

Exactly the comedy of these manual holier than thou attitude of children just gets funnier and funnier by the day. Lets grow up folks celebrate choice.

I have no prob with people getting a AT, but for the OP who's on the fence I say go MT all the way.

As for the current semi-auto cars out there.... They are AT. They can be set to auto shift and have no clutch. They are AT. Again, MT is less about choosing your gear and more about that 3rd pedal. This is why I own a FRS and not a Ferrari 488
