Dynosty Greddy Turbo FR-S Doubles Stock WHP

We more than doubled the stock wheel-horsepower on this FR-S using a Greddy turbo kit and a few upgrades. The Greddy turbo kit features a Mitsubishi turbo that is well matched to the FA20 engine and minimal intercooler piping, making this the most responsive turbo kit we have tested. Full spool on wastegate (7psi) is achieved by 2500rpm and boost control provides 12psi just after 3000rpm resulting in a very enjoyable powerband for a street car.

Supporting modifications include a Tial blow off valve, Motiv Concepts over pipe and front pipe, 550cc injectors, upgraded fuel pump, and Dynosty E85 tune using EcuTek.

Awesome!

love the design
love what you did

still hate the overall quality of materials used to make the kit.

What's wrong with the materials?

Is there any cutting required to route the intercooler piping like that?

Greddy turbo kit is a mass produced Item, if you notice the runners on the manifold are designed so that only two jigs are required as the runners are almost identical in bends..

same methodology can be found through out the greddy line. The materials used are sub-par for serious enthusiasts.

It will however suffice for anyone looking for a fun daily driver or stop light drag car.

Professionally I work in the QA/QC environment and believe in going above and beyond for quality... this method often conflicts with increasing profit margins.. Soo... I'll continue to pay extra for the personal touch and quality.

Sorry for detracting from the original intent of this thread, shall we stay on topic.

Faer, the Greddy products appear to be equal quality as other kits on the market, and the mass-produced part actually works in it's favor as fitment is better than others. It is a great spooling kit that is well matched for a stock motor street car, which is exactly what this customer wanted.

Calum, no cutting for the piping to fit, though the back side of the crash bar gets notched to fit the intercooler.

CajunFRS, the customer chose E85 from the start. No tuning was performed on 93oct. If it's available, it's a great choice!

Your customer didn't want to go higher than 316whp on E85? I know you can get 320whp @14PSI on 93 octane and the rep from Greddy said they got 350whp on E85.

The goal was 300whp on our dyno, which was easily met. We use a Dyno Dynamics, which consistently reads 10-15% lower than Dynojet. This puts the car at 340-360whp Dynojet. This is a great power level for the FR-S BRZ chassis... makes it very fun to drive, but not out of control.

With the internal wastegate, boost spikes to ~13psi and fades to around 11psi in upper rpms. More boost could be available with actuator upgrades.

E85 is the way to go! 320 on a dd sounds about right for that turbo. That's probably close to maxed.

I concur. I am 340 on your dyno and 375 on a dynojet that's a nice little package!!!
