I installed catted UEL headers and flashed the openflash tablet stage 1 map onto his car. The overall "GAINZ" may not be significant, but it definitely improved the area under the curve. I 100% advocate for the openflash tablet if you want to turn the car into something that seems willing without getting into expensive territory.
Don't Catted uel have a specific stage 2 tune and not the (2+)?

This combo is almost $4000. Please chime in if anyone has data to refute the above hp claims.
40 hp gain? Interesting thought exercise. Assuming E85 fuel is actually 85% ethanol, it will have a stoichiometric ratio of 9.7:1 under normal load and perhaps 7.5:1 under heavy load when you want a richer fuel mixture. In comparison, E10 fuel has a stoichiometric ratio of 14.1:1 under normal load and perhaps 12.5:1 under heavy load. All things equal, which I know it is not, this means the E85 engine can burn between 50% and 70% more ethanol than an E10 engine burns gasoline. More fuel means more power.

However, internal combustion engines are heat transfer engines. If we forget about winter and summer blends of gasoline, E85 ethanol contains 81,900 BTU/gallon and E10 gasoline contains 111,800 BTU/gallon. If an E85 engine burns 70% more fuel than a gasoline engine (assuming the injectors and fuel pump can handle that increased volume), the E85 engine will burn 1.7 gallons of E85 fuel versus 1.0 gallon of E10 fuel.

• 1.7 gallons (E85) times 81,900 BTU/gallon = 139,230 BTUs.
• 1.0 gallons (E10) times 111,800 BTU/gallon = 111,800 BTUs.

I know this is an extremely crude method to estimate power potential, but if this relationship holds true, the E85 engine has the potential to “release” about 25% more energy than the E10 engine. Based on a 200 hp engine that equates to an additional 50hp. Again, I acknowledge this down and dirty estimate may be fraught with error, but this seems to support your estimate of a 40 whp gain.

Can't recall honestly! Whatever had been recommended by their website is what I flashed to his car.

Why not load the stage 2 tune? If is tailored specifically for such header. Could've seen more actual gains vs the stage 1.

See my reply above- it probably was stage 2 if that's what was recommended by OpenFlash. I can't recall 2 years ago accurately

My bad, seems reasonable.

Me? I got Pro Speed Racing one's. The exhaust guy that fitted them nearly wept at the beauty of the collector. $750.

The main gain is in removing the restriction of the cats in the headers.

Where in Aus are you?
