BRZ head lights -> JDM 86 head light conversion

Sorry if this is a re post, but I couldn't find info on head light conversions from BRZ -> GT86 head lights (I saw the FR-S -> EDM, JDM 86 lights). They both have HID, so will it be a plug and play? Also I understand that the light angles are different for RHD and LHD lights, but I noticed adjusters in the head light units, will this be enough to change the angles to not blind on coming traffic? Or will I need to open the housing and change the angles manually or convert them in some way? Any information will be helpful!

The EDM units for the GT86 are identical looks wise to the JDM and have the right angles built in. As far as I know the difference for RHD is more than the adjusters can handle, it's not just the level it's the angle of the cutoff.

Wiring changes should be minimal. They make them in the same factory, it stands to reason that they'd make them compatible or extremely similar.

Cheers
Nathan

Thanks. I will find out more once I get them, found some used set of JDM ones on the Japanese auction site that I couldn't resist because of price.

The harness looks identical to the BRZ ones so I am hoping they are plug and play..

Should be plug and play for the LHD GT86 headlights from a brz standpoint, i installed them on my FR-S but with some modifications. As for the JDM RHD 86 Headlights, i can't say much but they should plug and play but i don't think the BRZ LHD adjusters will be compatible with the RHD JDM 86 headlights.

good luck blinding everyone. However I think you could fix that with a simple projector housing swap or something of that nature.

Projector headlights differ for countries that drive on the right side of the road versus the left side of the road.

US/Most of the world (drive on the right side of the road) cutoff looks like _____/--------

UK/Japan/Aus (drive on the left side of the road) cutoff looks like ---------\________

The side of the cutoff facing oncoming traffic must be lower than the side facing the shoulder of the road.

There's no safe or legal aim or 'adjustment' you can make to flip the cutoff.

You need to bake the headlights open, disassemble them, remove the projector itself, take that apart, and fabricate a new cutoff shield with the correct cutoff, or perhaps the projectors or cutoff shields from your BRZ projectors could be swapped into the JDM headlights. Either way, it's a pretty significant undertaking, but if you are dead set on having GT86 headlights and you were unable to source right-side-of-the-road headlights from the European continent, it's your only option.
