So I got my TB all back together & then noticed the car sounded a lil off. Cracked my cat back almost all the way around. But nothing a welder can't fix.

Pretty much identical to how mine cracked. Mine actually cracked all the way around at that location though. It also cracked nearly all the way around the weld at the muffler, and at the flange for the header.

Thinking out loud, I wonder if an engine torque damper would help control the movement of the engine and reduce some of the exhaust issues.

I dunno, I am ordering these 70a and crossing my fingers. A lot less area to twist on, but I am worried they won't high enough for pan clearance.

I was going to do the red 90a version, but I looked at the similar style 70a Supermiata mounts that I used in my SuperMiata and they were already super aggressive. Track car, but come on, need to be able to see out of the mirrors.

Yay, more oil temp stuff.

Turns out, KPower put the oil temp input on SPI, rather than AVI. Haltech has a support note about this:

https://support.haltech.com/portal/e...rature-sensors
Quote:
When using temperature sensors on AVI inputs, the calibration Haltech provides is correct. This is because the AVI's in the Haltech use a 1k pullup to 5 volts.
When using temperature sensors on SPI inputs, the calibration Haltech provides is incorrect. This is because the SPI's in the Haltech use a 10k pull to 5v.
I noticed that we have an empty AVI input available, so I figured I'd just re-pin it quick, this means moving pin 10 on the small/26pin connector to pin 13. Haltech gives us a nice pinout report with wire colors that should make it easy.

KPower was like nah and threw random colors at the ECU connectors. Pin 13 was also already populated by an orange wire. Where does it go? Who knows.
Side note is that the unassigned SPI1 goes to the connector that KPower uses for their flex fuel kit.

I tried the Haltech official sensor calibration (https://www.haltech.com/product/ht-0...rature-sensor/) and the sensor is reading as 140c maxed out at rest but not disconnected. Assigning the sensor back to the SPI input in Haltech reads as disconnected, which is expected.

A lot of the calibrations for the Bosch Motorsports sensor AKA Bosch 0261230340 sensor AKA Mazda PY8V-18-541B are listed with a with 4.6k pull up resistor included in the values which is why those don't work for us.

This is pretty annoying.

So out of curiosity, does a stock K20A2 have vibrations since it comes with this oil pump stock?

Would a fluidampr pulley help any with vibrations?

I'm assuming not since it was sold like that from the factory, I drove an rsx-s years ago and it didn't stand out. However the stroke is like 86 vs 99 iirc.

Well, at least I've got an answer. There is interference from DBW to other sensors, which is what is causing the oil/temp sensor reading issues. I'm wondering what else is affected by this.

Interesting. I’ll have to see if mine does the same.

It might be more obvious when the car is up to running temperature since the scaling on the temp sensor is pretty exponential as you get hotter.

is your sensor grounds good? One of the benefits of using the SPI is that its shielded, so if the shielding is not grounded correctly it could get the interference like that.

I haven't looked at the motor harness yet, but the harness from the haltech to the jumper board isn't using shielded wire where indicated. Stock BRZ harness from the jumper board to the engine bay connector may or may not be shielded too.

I corner weighted my car today, it went from 2901lb with the Harrop/FA20 to 2687lb after the swap. Ballpark it at about a 200lb weight loss.

So the Kpower kit uses the engine mounts from the WRX? would our FA20 STI mounts work or perhaps the group N STI mounts for STI.

I'm not real familiar with Subaru stuff, but I think what they use comes from the 02-07 WRX. The STI version of that will work and what I ordered should work too, but we will see.

KPower says the STI mount just added NVH, but I am more worried about keeping things from moving. Good idea? Bad idea? I dunno.
