to be fair, the standard molex connectors that are standard computer power are horrific in high power circumstances.

they really need to ship with a better style connector.

The R/C industry discovered and solved this very issue (and has found multiple alternatives over the years) - though some of those connectors would be considered FAR too large in this use case, they also have to handle >100amp peak (perhaps more) if I remember right. And the early solutions were still industry standard connectors (sermos-anderson power pole - though I see those rated at different current levels and they may not be up to modern brushless motors).
Brand new in-spec molex are actually reasonably capable... but every time a component is swapped they get worse... and of course the failing connectors in question were probably only plugged in once or twice.

^exactly the market i was thinking of. there were a lot of guy's that had issues with the molex connectors back in the 80's. i'm really quite impressed that the standard has held so long for pc's given the newer power advancements.

not a problem for me. first playthrough is always on easy. i'll go back and try the moderate/impossible modes.

Two generations ago that was an insane price... Yet now it seems cheap!

I thought maybe it was just me on a budget! Not priced to tempt me to upgrade from a 6800xt. I waited so long to get that because I had a card failure prompting the purchase of an RX580 just as the crypto price surge on that model was starting to diminish - think it cost me $350... which does seem almost cheap now... sigh. Back to work I guess. Maybe I can afford a video card even if I can't afford to retire.

pre-covid, i was buying used-but-complete laptops with great specs for under $200.

now anything with an i7 is at least $500...

You mean how some of the new AMD boards are damn near $500 a pop or more? Yeah it's insane. Not to mention you gotta get DDR5 which is still very expensive lol.

I mean, the first time I balked at motherboard pricing was looking at Intel boards a while back. But I'm disappointed that the latest round of AMD boards have seemingly ALL gone expensive.
Most have features I don't want, but the features I DO want are often only available with stuff I don't Not that I'm interested in anything new just now anyway. I like to keep track of things though just in case I have a hardware failure...

I'm pretty content with my B550i & Ryzen 5600x set up, so I shouldn't need to upgrade that for a bit. But I do want to pick up one of the new AMD RX cards!
