I only been paintball twice but this guy there went full retard. He had on like full swat gear. They had to stop our session to get him medical attention because he passed out in the heat.

In high school I liked/played airsoft because I was more into milsim and it was cheaper.

Mainly because it was cheaper.

You are right thought - I am not knocking paintball, but I prefer airsoft for the "tactical" aspect

There are - used mainly by police for force on force.

police usually use simunitions rounds for FOF - they're not airsoft rounds nor paintball, and use real weapons with conversion kits.

i think that the main advantage to airsoft over paintball is that paintballs is a bit more limiting as far as the venue goes due to the paint. unless you live out in the boonies and play with friends in the woods, you can't really shoot paint all over the place. you can shoot an airsoft gun just about anywhere it's safe and doesn't worry folk.

IMHO, airsoft is more suitable indoors at closer ranges (CQB) as the shorter engagement distance enables more realistic scenarios. outside in the field, airsoft rounds are susceptible to wind drift, and don't have much range. indoors, you can pretty much hit what you see, unlike outdoors when someone just laughs at you trying to lob rounds when they're out of effective range.

paintballs still hit hard at longer outdoor ranges and i think it's better than airsoft for field play. paintball used to be the original milsim until airsoft came on the scene.
