Michelin Pilot Super sport vs hankook vs nitto - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

Hey everyone so I currently have some Nt05 and the life is coming close to an end for the tires. Amazing tires and are super grippy up until the end of it's life and it's not that great, but still awesome! Only issue, is that the wear rating is 200, which is not too bad, but i'd like some more life out of the tires with good performance.

With that being said, I've been told the Michelin Pilot Super Sport are absolutely amazing with great wear and are even better than the nt05. I have also heard that the v12 by hankook are pretty amazing as well, but I haven't really see any stellar reviews about them.

Just trying to get some input about the tires. My goal is to have a summer tire that has good wear rating that would be equivalent or better than the Nt05. In terms of type of driving, spirited when I can and some canyon runs on the way home from school, and daily usage. I'm not worried about track tire for now.

V12 are best bang for your buck they last a decent amount and they perform very well but the michelin pilot super sports are the best tires i've ever had and i've gone through many sets but I just can't spend that much on tires each time.

I had hankook v12's on my r32 before switching to PSS on the R32. I now have PSS on the FR-S.

Hankook's are good bang for the buck but realistically - the PSS will last longer and provide much better performance while doing so. Eventually, you end up paying the same as you'll end up replacing the Hankook's sooner. Makes no sense when you considering just how much the PSS outperform them.

At this point, I feel like I will never buy another tire other than a Michelin PSS for any one of my vehicles.

Nitto Invos are almost as grippy as a nt05, but last much longer. I'm running them no with no complaints.

I looked at a few others before my decision:

Hankook V12 cheaper, but less stiff sidewall
Bridgestone RE11 good, like star specs, but expensive when I was looking
Dunlap StarSpec. More wear, less traction in rain
Continental Extreme Contact, cheaper, but not as good, sidewall stiffness
Yokohama ADVAN. A few variations that can be pricey, bit sticky
Along with some other cheaper ones

I thought about the cheaper ones, but I'd rather be happy with something than sacrifice sidewall stiffness or quality.. They'll be providing years of service (depending on driving). I've heard the PSS and SS described as the PSS is a street tire closest to a track tire, and the SS are track tires closest to street tires. Same for the RE11 and Advan.. If you autocross and don't swap to slicks, those are the ones.. But to last longer and better in wet.. PSS.

ran hankooks on the cl63 and they did not last at all, now all my cars have PSS ( other than the frs

). I cant stop telling people how i love the Michelins, they're amazing; even though they are not extremely sticky they are a joy to drive on

The PSS has less grip than the NT05. If grip is what you're looking for, the PSS will disappoint you after the NT05.

The RE-11A is where you want to go. Trust me. I've personally purchased virtually every tire listed here, and the PSS is not what it's hyped up to be.

It doesn't seem like Rain is a concern, so no need to get PSS or V12.

The RE-11A is reasonably priced for what it does too.

What's your take on some bf goodridge tires like the comp 2's or kdw?
