Microsoft announced system specs for FS 2020. I upgraded my old PC desktop over the past six months (850 watt power supply, bigger SSD boot drive, mega RAM, NVIDIA GTX 1080 FE, cooling, monitors) to better process photo and video anyway and am very close to the NVIDIA Ideal Spec for FS 2020 on a budget.

Getting ready to build a new Gaming PC. I now have my target specs! Hopefully this will run the upcoming Crysis reboot.

Undecided but leaning towards Ryzen just because my last one was Intel and it seems to AMD has the better price/performance right now. In the past I've always used AMD, including Radeon video. That is still up in the air as well.

Waiting for the dust to settle a bit on this COVID situation before I pull the trigger.

Nvidia is supposedly announcing Ampere on may 14th. I'd assume you'd hear about big navi soon after.

Cool, what specs are you looking at?

I just built mine last Labor Day. First time build too. Loved it.

Right now, starting with this, but still tweaking. Since it's primarily for gaming extra cores don't do much. When I first put it in, I selected the 64 core Ryzen, until I realized that it by itself is over $4K US! Suddenly decided I didn't need quite that much power.

This is from the System Builder on microcenter.com. I have one not too far from my house and they price match most online vendors. I prefer to buy local if I can for easier swapouts if needed.

The one pisser so far is that there are very few cases any longer that have 5.25" external bays. I still need one because I do some work that requires DVDs/CDs on a fairly regular basis. My computer is usually hidden 0r at least mostly out of sight in my home setup, so I don't need the glass panels for showing off purposes. Still I'd like something with a little style. I'll probably have to online order , if I can find one. Microcenter does have a cube shaped one I'm considering as well. I like the idea of the motherboard being horizontal rather than vertical.

Yea, everything I've seen about NAVI says end of the year. Right now Nvidia has the edge in performance but I'm a bit of an ATI/AMD fanboi when it comes to video.

I've used both in builds but my own personal build has been ATI/AMD going all the way back to the original VGA Wonder card in the 80's.

You could just have an external drive for CDs and the like. Just plug it in when you need it, put it away when you don't.

Yea I know, and I may just do that but it just feels "clunky".

I also have other computers in the house that have them I can access over the network in the house. I have an external 3.5" diskette drive I use on a very rare occasion.

Woh 64 cores. Lol that is over kill. I would recommend AMD 3700x. That has enough power for what you need and then some still top end performance.

I too went with a case with a single DVD bay. Cause I still use Blu-rays. It has a glass side room for my 240 mm radiator. It's a Couger MX 330 it's nothing fancy looking but great for me.

Funny thing I got most of everything from Micro Center as well. Minuses my gpu, case, and fans all the rest was from newegg.

On thing I would add is go with the M.2 ssd. Get two one small one 100-200gb for boot ups. And another 1tb for storage. That's way faster than 2.5" ssd.
I have a single 1tb M.2 ssd and it takes just 35 seconds from off to watching a YouTube vid.

Oh that ram kit, that CL speed you want something faster than 19. If you can CL 14 speed is the way to go, but 15/16 speeds are better than CL 19. (Lower is better).

Oh can I convince you on an all in one water cooler? Unless you love fans.

Hah! Yea, definitely a bit much but on the bright side would not need to be replaced in a very long time.

Nice case, I'll have to consider it. Haven't gone case shopping yet on NewEgg.

All good recommendations and things I'm considering. The M.2 vs SSD SATA seems to be a mixed bag, but i like the simplicity of the M.2. I was going to add one to the kit as the boot drive, it just wasn't on the list.

The memory is really a placeholder right now. Microcenter didn't have the specs I wanted in stock., pretty much what you suggested.

I upgraded to an all-in-one water cooler myself about 2.5 years ago so I could start overclock my cpu. Apparently a top-end air cooler is just as good and less expensive, but they are just so ugly IMO. I did have to adapt my drive bay to make it work though. And by that I mean I no longer have a CD drive in my PC.
